What are some pet peeves you have with your medium of choice?

I second this because well I do this for my comic too. It also requires more work for me to digitally colour than if I were to do digital lineart

I am not happy about my cheap local alchoholic markers for my occational color sketches. The inks started to spread out the edges and desaturated after a few months and it's horrible. Maybe Copic markers don't have the issues. (won't buy it too expensive)

Now I tested non-alcoholic Japanese markers and started to like it. They don't blend much but it'll fulfill my usages.

Whenever my mouse suddenly decides to be lazy. It is so hard to draw with a mouse, let alone an unresponsive mouse!

Most of my struggles with digital art are self inflicted tbh.

• Drawing on the wrong layer.
• I bump my tablet and rotate it a little too much, there goes all my pen control.
• Drawing on the wrong damn layer.
• I love Krita but man, the text tool needs some work.
• Drawing on the wrong fucking layer.
• Losing my pen control when I don't draw for a while. What is a smooth line. What are lines. Fuck lineart.
• The only real pet peeve I have with Krita is that ctr z will often undo several quick brush strokes at once which can be a little annoying.
• DRAWING. ON THE. WRONG. LAYER.

The first digital art class I took as a teenager, they had us using ball mice. The school then invested in drawing tablets and laser mice for the art classes. But the tech classes were still using the ball mice despite having Photoshop and Flash lesson plans. Evil, awful, hell! Ball mice, I do not miss them.

I make my comic here digitally with clip studio, but the medium I feel most comfortable with/have the most experience with is charcoal. I guess my pet peeve is obvious: it's super messy and if you're not careful, your arm can wipe away some of your shading .

I got a black eye once in high school, and after leaving art class and working with charcoals one day I had a friend look shocked and ask, "you got another one??" I didn't notice it had gotten all over my face

I'm also a big fan of ball point pen. I have literally no complaints about it except maybe that you can't erase?

ug yes! Back when I hand-inked and scanned my comic I had to spend time re-drawing lines in photoshop! I didn't have a touch screen/pen at the time so I used the trackpad and it was a pain.

ESPECIALLY IF IT MAKES YOUR LINE SPONTANEOUSLY SWERVE IN THE MIDDLE OF A STROKE

Fortunately this malfunction only happens on one end of the screen, but still I miss my external tablet - at least with that you don't get mislead by where your pen actually is

I wish the readers on here commented more on novels. I wish that everyone who loved it and read it subscribed, or better yet bought the paperback when it released.
I wish I was better at it.
I wish people liked reading novels on here as much as comics.
I wish the site respected novelists as much as they respect and bring in Webtoon Creators.
I wish writing was valued as much as art is.
I wish I could write as fast as my brain thinks out my ideas.
I wish my stupid writer brain would let me finish a novel before starting another one.
And gosh darn it stop getting distracted with drawing and go back to writing already.

Very true. But when they switched over to adding in novels I think it would only have been fair for them to treat both halfs as an equally important business. But I feel like they added it on there and now its like a broken nail hanging on by a thread. I feel like the novel side isn't cared for as much as it should be by the site itself. It has some very nice and loyal readers, and some loyal writers as well. I have been on here 5years and honestly the novel side hasn't changed much at all. While the Webtoon side is ever growing and changing always updated and hyped.

I use Photoshop for my comic, so I'm not sure where to begin with my pet peeve list. Their brush engine is both robust and not nearly robust enough. The brush engine works as a set of variations on a series of shape stamps. That's pretty much as deep as it goes. I would love more simulation options for things like paint, or physics options like Substance painter has for things like leaks. On the more basic side though, I want the ability to setup a brush that cycles through a set of stamps randomly, so I can set up a really robust shattering glass stamp for example. I want a brush velocity option so that I can make my inking pen lay down less ink on quicker strokes to better simulate a real pen. I want a shortcut key to cycle through a set of predetermined tools that I define, like brush/eraser. I want the ability to lock the dual brush size at a constant rather than it scaling with my brush. I would love a flatter built into the app, particularly if it didn't choke on my hatching. More than anything, I would love if Adobe developed more features for painters rather than just to photo editors. And dropped their monthly sub price.

Drawing these little - what would you even call them? Shinies? On the slime stuff. It's tedious, it's boring, and it's super hard to get right, but if I don't do it, it won't look right.

Pens are great! I got into crosshatching a while back. Honestly, for me not being able to erase was kind of a relief- forced me to accept a certain level of mess & not be a perfectionist
