What are the industry standards for a comic book studio/ What policies would you like to see in a comic book studio?

I'm working on an assignment for one of my business classes (I'm majoring in business in college). One of my assignments is to create a business, which means doing a business plan, writing down a few policies, and such. So I decided to go with making a comic book studio.

But the trouble is, I can't find much about how to run a comic book studio online. So I wanted to know if any of you know any industry standards about comic book studios. Or what you would like to see in a comic book studio if you worked at one?

Examples of what I'm looking for would be:

-Timed breaks in order to allow the artists to take a break from their work.
-Having monthly meetings for in-house artists to propose their ideas to the studio for future publishing
-Giving artists/employees a stipend along with regular pay for supplies.
-etc.

Any help with this would be awesome.

I would approach this a bit backwards. Start with considering standards for ANY business. Once you have a good few ideas consider the fact that your employees are artists themselves. Once you have some ideas where these 2 areas cross you'll have a lot of relevant information to build from.

What policies would you like to see in a comic book studio?

I wish that the cover artist and the artist who does the pencils were the same person. If Alex Ross did the cover I want to see him do the rest of the comic too.

That's a good idea. I was so concerned with it being a comic book studio it hadn't occurred to me to just look at general business policies. Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it.

I'm kind of like ?, because here in the states there arent many "comic book studios" anymore nowdays. Most artists I know work from home or if you do have a case of a couple of artists under one roof, they work on their own individual projects separately as long as they agree to pay their share of the overhead and utilities.

@joe_galindez that's one of the things that I hate nowdays myself as well. Only thing is, Alex Ross isnt a "monthly book" type person and they arent doing large type projects like Marvels and Kingdom Come nowdays. The one I hated, was Mark Brooks doing the covers for Kanan: The Last Padawan but Pepe Larraz was doing the interior art; Larraz's work is superb enough to do a cover...

It just feels like false advertising, you know? Especially if the comic's sealed in plastic and the bookstore frowns on ripping them open.

I thought I chime in I'm in the process of growing my Studio.

I don't fit any usual business standard but I feel I could lend some advice. I would like to help as many people as possible. It's not easy...

If you want we could talk privately or on here I don't mind either way.

First off you need a project. (Super important)
Then you need an artist, writer and a manager. (Just as super important)
Then you gotta figure out. Pay, no pay, crowd fund, or passion project.
Then you plan and schedule meetings, set goals and figure where you want to post it or if you're going to publish it.
Set up a website
Social media
Hold a art contest to garner more interest
???
Profit?
This all has been done in the two years and trust me I've failed a while back and tried it again.
We've grown from 3 people to 5 with the potential of more coming along because of workload. (might be looking for ppl here...just saying >.>)
