oh my god I love good omens, it's one of the only books that's made me laugh aloud. I read a lot of fantasy with huge casts (looking at you malazan) so this never bothered me so much. Do you feel some characters don't have a purpose in the grand scheme of things?
Which book in the hitchhikers series is mostly harmless? I remember I stopped at book 4 I think...
I'm reading a book called The Left Hand of God by Thomas Hoffman atm, and it's not the best thing I've ever read, but I think it does a really good job of making third person omniscient engaging and amusing (though not as well as in good omens), and the characters are scumbags (and I love reading about scumbags). It's also got an opening line that I love:
Listen. The Sanctuary of the Redeemers on Shotover Scarp is named after a damned lie, for there is no redemption that goes on there and less sanctuary.
There's so many tapas series im reading that it's not even worth mentioning...
