What are your Christmas-comic plans?

The holiday season is almost upon us, so I thought I'd ask everyone if they have any holiday-related plans for their comics! Holiday specials for ongoing series, special holiday oneshots, etc., etc.

So, what's everyone going to get up to in December?

I'm personally doing a bit of both - there's a winter-special episode coming up for Grassblades, which is part of a larger holiday-collaboration with a bunch of other Tapastic artists. It's going to be a bunch of fun, and I really hope people will like it!

I'm also going to be posting a kind of Christmas calendar in 24 parts, starting on December 1st!

Wishlight is going to be a fairytale in 24 parts, with one update a day from December 1st to Christmas Eve. It's non-denominational, and is really more of a winter-tale than a Christmas story, but I hope people will enjoy it nonetheless.

Do you have any plans for the holidays? Are you super-excited for the season and can't help but draw your characters in ugly Christmas-sweaters, or are you feeling all Grinch-y and planning to spend the holidays cursing the joy and good cheer of your neighbours?

I'm sure there are a whole bunch of people excited for Christmas (or the holiday of your choice!) - let's give them all a whole lot of comics to read!

Holiday collaborations sounds really fun, oh my god! Really curious and I can't wait to see what that's about!

And just read the concept of Wishlight, I am in love with it! Can't wait to see what's in store. <3

As for the holidays, here they started already and won't end until late January with Three King's Day on the 6th and then San Sebastian festival towards the end of the month, so it usually drags on too long for me, although I go to the festivals and such. (The amount of people who go to these things is insane!)

Although work--wise, last year I made a short holiday comic with some of the characters in Cosmic Fish back in dA , and I suppose I might try something similar here with new strategies, but mostly will spend the time working on a comic festival due in march.

It was a short comic written like a storybook.

Now that I think about it, I'm motivated in making one here now, hahaha. Congratsonspreadingtheholidaycheer

Since my strip, The Working Stiff, is set in an office, I have a few gags coming up about office holiday traditions/parties. First one will be posted 12/16. I might also do a special The Working Stiff holiday greeting if I have the time.

I'm going to draw a big group art of my characters 'in ugly Christmas-sweaters' decorating Christmas tree, baking cakes and singing carols~ ♥ and probably lots of wintery and Christmas-y sketches~
Though this stuff is going to be in my extras serie. As for my actual serie... I'm probably going to put it on a short hiatus for Christmas (probably 23-27). I'm spending Christmas with my family, and I don't really want to worry about drawing pages and updating- especially that there's a possibility that I won't have Internet there cx

That does sound like a lot of holiday-celebrations! In Sweden, we're much more low-key - there are the four Sundays of advent (which most of us celebrate by lighting a candle and eating some saffron-buns), then St Lucia Day on the 13th - with Lucia processions with singing and stuff - and then there's Christmas Eve/Christmas Day.

We used to make a bigger deal of Three Kings Day, but these days most people don't. We certainly don't have any festivals! Where are you from? : )

Last year, I was apart of a Xmas collab with a group of Tapastic creators and this year I'm in on another one! XD
So hyped for it! It's going to be big!

I also have a few Secret Santa art exchanges to finish up and drawing new banners/icons/special comic Xmas themed stuff. X3

So busy during the holidays.

I'll probably draw a holiday image of some of the Creep characters.

I have some deadlines coming up so I don't have too much time for fun stuff :/

I'm from Puerto Rico and we even have this thing called "Parrandas". Think of it like...Christmas Carols if everyone was drunk on coquito (a coconut/cinnamon/rum christmas drink) and hungry. The concept is after midnight you creep up to someone's front door and yell "¡¡ASALTO!!" which is Spanish for, yeah "assault" and you play trumpets, tamborines, güiros, maracas, and sing as loud as possible till the person opens the door and invites you in for food and drinks. Then they have the option of going back to bed or joining the Parranda to wake-up another neighbor.

That is EXACTLY what the Swedish St Lucia-celebrations used to be! XD Except we did it early in the morning instead of at night, and some people were dressed up as goats. These days, Lucia-processions have become these well-behaved affairs with people singing carols and visiting public squares and reading poems, and absolutely no drunken home-invasion at all.

I wish I had the time, honestly... I usually wind up either missing the holiday stuff or just drawing something small.

Most definitely! Since my comic is a slice of life, the holidays helps me have a fresh theme from which to "launch" new comic ideas.
Plus I think it helps your audience connect with the comic if they have a theme the reader can relate to.

long sigh I'm so behind on pages I probably won't have time for much of anything. I do have to do a secret santa image tho, and I'll probably try to draw a christmas image for Zenchav. Drawing a Christmas one shot sounds super fun, I wish I could do that but my productivity is always minimal towards the end of the year due to obligations. A one shot collab sounds super fun too siiiiiigh

How I still need to study for my final tests of high school until December 15, I'm not having to much time to work in my comics or practice drawing. But I'll make a Christmas special comic for Team Trouble in Christmas Eve.

Christmas is always quite busy with busy comic plans. But not as much as @annalandin I have to say. I don't know where you find the time.

I work without buffer so every week is a race against the clock to get the new page out. I'll do secret santas and probably be launching a giveaway by the end of the year. Depends on my page ratio. It would be to celebrate being half way in Shades Of Men.
This is gonna be fun!

I have no idea how you do it, Anna. I wish I had more time that I could spend on my comic to do specials like this one. Maybe one day when I don't have to work so much! (whenever that will happen)

But I am really looking forward to your christmas comic Wishlight! It looks so cute!

Hahahaha! XD I find the time by being a workaholic with a very organised mind, and I started planning Wishlight in late July. I know how much time it takes to make a Christmas comic, so I start super-early!
