What are your goals for 2021?

This is neat.

My goals for 2021.

• I want to reach 10 "episodes" in my series.

• I want to cook more. I lost a lot of love for cooking/food with my food allergies and I want to find a happy medium again with myself and what I eat.

• I want to keep studying languages. I want to learn more French and Romanian.

• I want to be more body positive and accepting of myself.

• Have a "big" adventure. (Type of adventure TBD)

As usual I'll put a ton of pressure on myself, for next year's goals, because that's how I thrive. I do realize that they may be unrealistic, but I'mma still shoot for it anyways

•Double my page output for Dragon Sparking

•Hit trending in Action genre for Dragon Sparking

•Get better at backgrounds and mechanical art

•Finish the storyboard for the collaboration comic I'm doing, get two full chapters drawn and colored.

@cherrystark Same with the "big" adventure — hopefully this pandemic gets better so that we can all have one! And YES to self love + body positivity. It's something I've worked on over the years, and want to continue working on as well !!!

@nathanKmcwilliams You can totally accomplish these goals for your comic! I'm also someone who puts a lot of pressure on myself. I try to remind myself of all that I've accomplished and its helped a ton

It's not student debt- I paid THAT off in 2019 and it felt SOOOO good; I paid too much, so they sent me check back for the difference!

This debt is one that occurred because I was paying in so much money on my student loans. I started paying off all of my debts in 2018...this is the last one on the list. I had money to pay towards it earlier this year, but then my old vehicle died & I didnt want to risk getting Covid riding on public transportation, so I got a "newer-ish" vehicle. The new vehicle is great, but at times I wished I would've been able to have paid off the debt.

• Do well in my game design internship and find a full-time position.
• Complete manuscript for my second Tapas story.
• Travel to Osaka and Kyoto (when we're allowed to travel again)
• Practice Japanese speaking with a native speaker twice a week.(I can only read and write )
• Oh, and move out of my parent's house. That would be really nice

My main creative goal for next year is to release my comic. It's not my very first because I did some attempts at comics in the past, but it's the first I'm taking seriously and devoting some more time to planning. Right now I'm building a buffer of pages before posting, and I'm aiming to publish it around January or February.

Another goal of mine is to start doing exercises. I'm leaning towards yoga because it's good for the mind and body, and I can do it at home.

For my 2021 goals, I wanna find job in animation or a job relating to art or my comic.

• Lose 40 pounds and get to my goal weight. (I lost 100 pounds in 2020 so I think this last stretch is doable.)

• Get to 250 subs on Cup and Quill

• Build up a buffer of more than 2 months of episodes for my comic

• Start a patreon towards the end of the year where people can read ahead and get other fun rewards

• Get back to studying Japanese on a regular daily basis

• Get outside more

• Make more friends

I am back and forth on it, but I think 2021 is the year for me to do a deep dive in the book I believe in, rather than writing new stories.

So far, I had written non-stop for 2.5 years, enjoyed it very much, but I know that I do not match the deep quality of writing that I like.

I don’t think I can match it with just three drafts. I need to sit down, remove all distractions and posting schedules and keep rewriting page after page until it stops being so light and skimming along the surface.

I am really afraid to pick the wrong story to do it on, because it’s not like it’s going to improve my audience outreach. But I want to resists by all means possible the thing I always do: get into the new story believing that it’s The Book.

I question myself because maximizing my audience has always been my goal.

So, I don’t know if it is the right thing to do or not, but it’s the thing I had not tried yet.

Sadly right now my only goal for 2021 is to find a job. If I manage to find something before 2021 then I can focus on some happier personal goals, but right now that's all I've got. This has been one seriously bleak year for me (as it has for everyone) and COVID has claimed my job of 15 years Job hunting was already tough, to do it during a pandemic...hooboy. So for now, that's my only goal.

My main goal for next year is to keep making consistent content and get better at visual storytelling. It would be great if we can launch our next project in 2021 but I don't want to rush anything if it's not in the cards.

Some are:

• Health and Fitness (like everyone lmao). Took some steps in the right direction in 2020 and I do think my eating habits are a little better, but still a long ways to go.

• On the work front, wouldn't mind trying to work up towards a raise as others have mentioned. Also just hoping to learn how to focus better while working from home to be more productive. I've been a victim of WFH distractions ;[

• Increase comic drawing speed. Would like to go from 3-4 week episodes down closer to 2 week cycles, if possible. Going from pages to vertical scroll has made my episodes longer, which is nice! But it also means they take way way longer to finish than I'm used to @u@ used to be a page-a-week person but now I'm working in episodes that are roughly 3-5 pages long so... yeah. If I can hit a consistent 3 week cycle or even my goal of 2 weeks, that'll be nice!

• For my art social media, would like to dial in my "branding" a little more. Especially now that I've started Twitch streaming and am thinking about starting up some youtube stuff... having some consistent banners and stuff everywhere would be nice

* Loose weight (generic I know but last 4 months I've been hit with some serious gut issues so I can't even bend TmT)

Though it took me six months to find a job post-grad (I'm starting next week), I can't even imagine the frustration/stress of losing a job of 15 years — I'm so sorry. I'm sending you best wishes, and I'm hoping you get hired soon!!!

These are great goals, and I'm sure you will accomplish them all!!! Congrats also on your weight lost — I'm glad you're continuing towards your health and wellness goals
