What are your native languages/mother tongue?

Other than English, my mother tongue is Filipino, what's yours? It's very interesting to know creators using English but has a native tongue.
Oh yeah, don't forget to also put a greeting/message in your native language.

I grew up with Cantonese and English, but I've lost most of my Cantonese vocabulary since my grandmother passed. I can still understand it conversationally though.

My native language is Swedish! I started learning English when I was 11, and am fairly fluent in it these days. I also studied German in school (though I've forgotten a lot of it), and I've recently started learning French.

Svenska är inte särskilt vanligt på internet, men det ser ut så här! Massor med prickar över allt! XD

I love studying languages, I hope to learn french and russian soon, my level is so low! I also need to learn more about english grammar!

Bulgarian is both my mother & native language. It's a difficult language, but I really like it. I'm quite sad that most people around me seem to not care about it much and make elementary mistakes...
Surprisingly, I can understand Russian at a decent level, since our languages are a bit close, yet every time I talk to a Russian person, it doesn't seem like the whole "basic understanding" goes both ways. Either that, or they like to pretend they do not understand me xD

My native language is Dutch. Or actually a dialect of that. Had to take a few steps to learn real Dutch. Learned english at school but also through videogames, computers, movies and these days the internet. (probably still make mistakes, but i'll try to get the message across the screen)

@studiomik Dutch is one of those languages that always makes me do a double-take when I hear it! So many words are similar to English and Swedish (probably because all three languages are germanic in origin) that I swear I can understand what's being said, but not quite!

For example, Swedish versions of some of the words you listed:

Good morning = god morgon
comics = seriestrippar*/serier
cartoon character - seriefigur

*) we differentiate between comics as a medium (serier) and the three-panel comics (seriestrippar/stripp-serier), etc. But yeah, we use the word "stripp" too.

Tintin is still called Tintin in Sweden, though. XD

haha, yeah same thing here! I think Swedish is a great language! We always have a great time mimicking the Swedish language in improv-theater like that cook from the Muppets. Would love to speak it one day, but i'm not that good with languages. Dutch is kinda hard to learn i guess, it has so many variables, even the dutchies get it wrong some times. A friend of mine went a year to Sweden and came back speaking it fluently! Still wanna go there one day....first have to make a lot of comics!

Aangenaam! Nice to meet you! It's kinda formal, like when you meet your parents in law, or elder people i guess. What does "Mabuhay!" translate to?

@studiomik "Mabuhay" literally means "lively" but it's also used for the word "Welcome!" .
But I observed that many Filipinos barely use that word in daily conversations, so they just use "Welcome po!" or "Tuloy po kayo!" as a greeting. "Po" is used if you want to be polite towards an elderly or your parent, it can be used anytime, if you want to use this to strangers, just use "ho." . If you want to say "Nice to meet you," use "Kinagagalak kong makilala ka." But it's also barely used in daily conversations because it's long, I would just rather use the English phrase .

@studiomik Hahaha! XD Does Swedish really sound like the Swedish Chef to non-native speakers? Because it's 99% nonsense and 1% English and Swedish words. To my Swedish ears, he sounds like he's going "derp derp derp bork bork merp", which is SO not Swedish! He makes some sounds that are a little similar to what Swedish words might sound like, but it's mostly just "der-der-der". XD

Here's a clip from a 70s children's show about words and the alphabet, which should give people a better idea of what actual spoken (and sung!) Swedish sounds like.

I'm impressed your friend learned Swedish that fast! A lot of Swedes insist on speaking English to foreigners, so learning it can be tricky.

English! But I come from a long line of First Nations, so if you go down my ancestry, they would have spoken First Nations languages, which in Canada alone, there were like, fifty.

My native language is french. I really started learning english near 12 (before it was learning colors). I really like this language.
I also learned german and Italian, but lost everything unfortunately.

Well, we tend to generalise a lot of course in improv-theater. cliches and that sort of stuff always works the best to get a quick laugh. And a laughing audience feels very good when your struggling on stage with improvisation-theater. Thanks for the clip! Again, i heard some words that sounded very familiar.
