I've been mirroring Kilroy on there since I started posting pages here... and whoof. It's bad. Real bad.
I wanted to give new SJ the benefit of the doubt, but it's still basically got all the clunkiness of the old site with all the benefits it had taken away. For example- uploads must now be squished down to 690 pixels and they don't even resize it when you upload it- If it's a pixel over 690 in width it just rejects the image entirely. I literally had to take a page that's 700 pixels, open it back up in clip studio, crop 10 pixels off the sides, THEN try posting it again.
They basically nuked their community, destroying the forums and removing any way to communicate with staff. They no longer allow for moderation of your own page, so troll comments/harrassment can now run roughshod all over the place. Basically it's like webtoon, where you have to report it and hope that maybe someday a thousand years from now someone might maybe possibly do something about it.
That's just it, really. It has all of webtoon's problems but none of the benefits, basically. At least webtoons has a huge audience, most of SJ's is scattering to the four winds and it just sucks...
Not sure what to do about my mirror, but I now have 84 pages that don't have any likes on them, so I'm sure I'd get buried by the algorithm when previously I was doing pretty well. I had a couple hundred fans on there, I have no idea where they are now. The site doesn't count follows/subscribers anymore. I don't even know if they have them anymore, I haven't been getting new upload notifs from any of the comics I follow. It's just a mess.
I'm glad Tapas is my main upload site, I really feel for anyone who only posted their comic on SJ exclusively... That's why I had a mirror going in the first place; in case something happened to one of the platforms, I'd still have my comic up somewhere.
Now I'm trying to decide on if I should move the mirror to comicfury, find some other free hosting if it exists, or just... idk. I don't have the funds to set up a wordpress, otherwise I'd give that a try.
