And? They haven't altered the conversion rates, so they're still pocketing up to 33% up front. And that's assuming that's still active. Also, they're still taking that 15% "web fee." If they have a web based payment processor that charges THAT much, I don't trust their business sense. For contras…

Now that the update is live, there is precisely zero change to anything around the text on the support dashboard OR the ink shop. There is no updated information in the terms or on the help pages. The help article on "How to Make Money" still says: When readers use Ink for Support, roughly 85% g…

It's now been 3 months since this was stated. I cannot find any chances made to anything about Ink or the phrasing around it. What is your projected timeline for these changes? On what scale is your "short term"? When it comes to businesses, one would assume that would mean "within the quarter." …

Most of them are going to ComicFury, because at least over there they allow page customization and additional pages.

And it's worse than expected. Not only is the ability to have a completely custom URL gone, but [comic].smackjeeves.com is no longer an option, either. It's all just nonsense ID numbers, now.

Ko-Fi really is the best alternative. They don't take a single fee from the transactions (and only paypal fees are removed), and that paltry $6/mo gets you so many awesome features. AND the ability to give once or subscribe monthly. Plus their website is just nice. It makes me so happy that the…

This is exactly my question. There are many ways of fixing the system that would simplify it on both ends. It really is needlessly complicated on both ends. And it doesn't help the fact that there is no clarity of even the basics in the TOS or anywhere. Not even the simple statement of once it's i…

But Yoon’s statement suggests otherwise

That still means essentially the same thing. If this is what they claim, an oversight, then they should be making it a priority to fix. An "oversight" that takes so much money away from creators without informing the buyers is a big deal. Pushing it off to whenever they do the dashboard update …

That's such a clear and simple system. Makes me want to actually use Twitch more! Definitely more than Tapas. That doesn't mean we can't continue to discuss it. And what do you mean by "free time." Tapas isn't run like ComicFury or pre-NHN Smackjeeves. It's not a couple of friends working o…

I wasn't even after a means to change the Support system. Just a clarification of language and transparency. As it stands, from the supporter side all that is seen by digging int stuff like the TOS is a statement that the exact value will not be given and that creators get 85%. The creator dashboa…

Please do. Why is it not an option to do manually? Even just a "vacation mode" that hides the button from one's profile while the comic is on hiatus or something.

In the wake of everything, I would like to remove Ink Support from my profile, but I cannot find a means to turn it off. Could someone point me to what obscure corner that setting is hiding? Of if it's not there, offer some explanation as to why it's not something you can toggle?

Since this is the thread that started it, I wanted to say that all these months later, there is officially a proper and official answer! Michaelson confirmed in another thread that on the creator side $1 is 1200 Ink. It varies when purchasing it, but it has a set value on the creator side. This me…

Will this be made evident to the people who are purchasing the Ink? Additionally, how in any feasible way was this simply overlooked? Someone had to have known there was a great deal more money being put into the system by the users than was being paid out to creators. The Ink purchasing page…

If you mean the "one time offer" that's not a special thing. It's there for everyone to entice them to buy Ink. And that one is the same base value as the $50 level (ie 1200 ink = $1.) But you can see it in the screenshots I took during my experiments, too.

This is exactly it. It's not even that it's a modernization or that they're changing stuff. It's that they're flat out removing what sets SJ apart. Everyone's gotten so accustomed to things like Tapas and Twitter where you're not allowed these changes. The ability to completely customize your t…

It's owned by NHN Global, though.

One thing I'm especially not a fan of is that timeline. But also I really don't want another homogenized Tapas clone. Let me have my own theme somewhere.

That’s my plan. I will wait at least until after the holiday for whatever PR approved answer we get. If it is the vague non-answer style we’ve been getting and does not result in clear, documented details of what we’re all paying and losing, that’s my next step.

This is, quite possibly, one of the most frightening statements I have ever seen. Especially since it is a system that starts and ends with real world currency. And a "system" that no real documentation in any public facing fashion outside of a few, disconnected and vague statements in the TOS.

I contacted them at this address over a week ago and have not heard back. I have also attempted to contact them on twitter with my questions. Still nothing. When I say they're not responding, I mean it. It's why I'm so frustrated with not getting a response and the reaction to it. I have tried …

Seriously. Not being up front about these things is never a good look. They need to not only acknowledge that a portion is being taken off the top dependent on what is purchased, but they need to have that documented. Somewhere. In a way that we accept those terms upon sign up or purchase.

Okay, but that's a poor comparison. For starters, print has an extremely high overhead, and there's a lot of people (the publisher, editors, agents, etc) taking a cut of those sales. But also. When you are publishing a book, you sign a contact. A contract that lays out in excruciating detail wh…

I thought so, too. But this is very much not the case. It's geared toward a very specific demographic, and if you fit into that you're good. And that demographic also happens to be the sort of people who wouldn't notice they were taking large chunks of money as a penalty for not shelling out $50. …

We do have false advertising laws in the US but you can typically only fight it by suing over lost funds. And these are such small amounts that it’s difficult for a single person to make a case for it. It would take a whole lot of people getting really loud about it for any other route. I just wi…

It was a bank holiday. Most people still went to work. Only places like banks, schools, post offices etc were closed. I get the feeling that it could be a full month out and you'd still be saying the same thing. This is exactly why this bugs me so much. It's the framing and utter lack of tran…

That’s been a theory at the crack of my mind because the $50 and special offer levels shook out to have no loss. But it’s shady as hell. Mostly for the reasons that @vothnthorvaldson pointed out. it’s structured to make the different value look like a bonus when all the base values are $1=800 in…

Yuuuup. Not even a "still looking into it."

Inky's links are the ultimate in general lettering advice (and what I was already reaching for myself). They don't specifically state it, but as you can see from all examples given, all caps is the standard in lettering. But it comes down to one simple fact: [image] You can use lowercase if it…
