Yeah, not a fan of the current model.
While on the one hand I'm happy to see Webtoon branching out and letting more creators in with Originals that fit into a wide range of styles and genres, on the other hand I'm afraid that the current release schedule is only going to cause more damage than benefit to said creators. There are just too many series being released each week.
Most of them barely get any banner space on release day and then poof, they're gone. You don't see ads for them anymore and, unless you actively search for them in the Originals section, you're not going to hear about them anymore. And since more and more series keep getting released each week, it's easy for new Originals to get buried and receive no attention at all.
Add the fact that, as @Animefanka pointed out, the notification system on Webtoon IS quite terrible and barely lets you know about new updates on series you follow (no, seriously, I tend to forget about series I follow for weeks or even MONTHS because the notifications are barely even visible in app) and... yeah, things don't look good.
