Well, the forum helped me gain more traction for my comic, helped me establish relationships with other creators, share my passions. There's sooo many good things about this forum that I like. I also love the fact that it is very welcoming and it feels like a big family. I always saw this as a pretty wholesome place for me to talk with other people who like the same things as me!

Plus, I was able to improve my skills thanks to the feedback I got from other creators, I was able to spot the weaknesses in my story and characters thanks to them. I'd be very very sad and depressed if this forum were to shutdown... :disappointed:

List of things i love about the forums

  • Create a topic of anything
  • Interact with other authors
  • Help advertise for other authors
  • share other writing prompts and art prompts

idk if it's true or not that that the forums will eventually shut down but I'm still happy to be a part of the forums and meet so many authors on this site.

It's less pressure? As someone with social anxiety it's definitely less overwhelming than the discord. Discord makes me feel like an insect...

The forums really helped get my foot into the door on this site. I'll admit I was a bit hesitant on going on it at first because I came fresh from Deviantart and I was hoping my watchers would follow me on here. This was just a place to put all of my finished work. But since getting on forums, I've felt like I've grown closer to the community. There are so many great people with great work on this sight that I would have never found if I didn't get on forums. It's also help my series get the recognition it has and it's just sad to see it go like this. But hopefully if enough of us speak out against the change, we may get a compromise.

It's a very different format compared to discord, and has it's place alongside other communication platforms I think. Discord is much more fast paced, and catching up can feel like a daunting task sometimes if you're offline for a few hours. In the forums I can catch up on specific threads quite easily, without having to dig through pages and pages of people chatting. Want to find the finished OC dog pile image? Easy. Want to see what people say about it? It's all right there. Conversations like that just don't work the same in Discord.
I also feel like it's a lot easier to get your thoughts out on a forum, because I don't have to worry about 20 other users chatting over the top of me and burying the topic I'm responding to. I know Discord has threads and replies, but lets be honest, people use Discord differently than a forum like this. If I respond to someone's post from yesterday that's 200 posts up in the chat log, I'm not going to get to have that conversation with them like I could here, I'd just be ignored.
Promotion is something I've heard people complain about a lot here, but tbh it's netted me lots of readers. It just doesn't work the same way on Discord.

I like the relative lack of drama and toxicity on these forums. There's some jerks here and there, but overall the community is so much warmer and less fighting all the time than most any other author community I have been in.

Things a moving into Discord nowadays.
The advantage of forum is that you may track your topics easily.
But in discord, a lot of features can be done, and it helps to grow the community there.

I like being able to look at the archive of my comments and mostly topics. I used to use the forums a lot for tips before I joined a comics server (not tapas, i have no interest in tapas's server lmao) and it's nice to look on it every once in a while.

Of course, I'd lose all that valuable advice if the forums ever do go down, so ::sweat_01:

Probably the fact it's the last forum dedicated entirely to webcomics. Nowhere else I've seen has one. I really liked the sketch a day thread.

I agree 100% with all your opinions... Discord is stressful, I just hope the forums stay

I like getting to interact with other creators here, if these forums do go, I'll miss that :frowning:

Discord is nice for chat, but I don't think it can replace a forum. A forum feels more "slow-paced". Also, you can check other people's profile to view their comics/websites etc. You don't really have that in Discord.

Being able to see/ask pretty much anything, from writing advice to pictures of beans :relieved:
Also, it's really easy to interact with other creators here , to be honest, when i created this acc (august) forum is what convinced me to do so, wattpad had it once but not anymore so we interact via book clubs

I used to be on Wattpad long before the forums shut down but even the forum was toxic af. The Tapas one is anything but toxic. One of the most heartwarming forums I've ever seen. periodt.

oh i should of said i wasn't on wattpad during forum era, i joined recently, i'm sad to hear that
But to be fair, you could of guessed it, if you look at certain comments they will be "savage" ,but actually they are straight up hating on book (there are few comments that are kinda mean, but to characters not to creator, and i don't mind them)

One could argue that all that's left is the toxic users, all living in harmony in our toxic waste dump XD
