What do you like to read of in a novel

When reading an action fantasy novel. What do you prefer?

Do you have favourite tropes? Favourite types of power-ups? Favourite type of setting? Power systems? I just want to know why you like the stories you do, the way that you do.

I like the novel I have going on right now called Beast Break, but I want to know what others like reading.

I like reading mystery and non fictuon novels.

world building is one of my favorite things. I like to see how a person created the power systems, governments, fantasy species etc

I like novel's that make me feel something. If I'm not best friends with the characters by the middle of the book or if I don't have an opinion of them by then, then I don't want to continue reading about them.

Relatable characters and phenomenal world building

I like strong intimate relationships between characters.

I write romance, so obviously I love a good romantic pairing. But if romance isn't your thing, there's also close friendships, family and found family, former allies turned enemies (ahhhh!), a master/servant bond, teacher and apprentice...
