I can tell the first few pages are rough as far as linework is concerned, but first works usually have a rough start. The use of backgrounds in general increases as you go along, but they are plain and empty giving the environments a strange sense of space. The lack of detail in these spaces causes a knowledge gap about the world they live in, or where they live.
Story wise it moves at an even pace. My main gripe is the setting for the story which is confusing, with an american words here and there but main characters who all coincidentally have japanese names.
Lastly you've taught us about the nature of the tattoos without any unnecessary exposition. I am curious about the drawbacks of these curses, since they are curses right? But it's my understanding you'll cross that bridge when you come to it.
Overall the art could use a lot of improvement. You will benefit from an addition of detail to your environments and characters that will help immerse your readers.
