I think apple hasn't been innovative since Steve Jobs passed away. The eight or so products that Jobs oversaw before his passing could have been counted as innovative, but once that line-up was finished the following product and software updates have just been market catch-ups. Make the phone thinner, lighter, faster, bigger screen, better battery, camera, fingerprint etc. are all just evolutions of the product and nothing revolutionary. Don't get me wrong, I like apple products, but nothing has stood out to me over the last several years, and yesterdays announcement was no different.
I was originally sooo keen on the apple watch, however after purchasing a second hand one I tried it for 2 weeks and found it more annoying than useful. I just use a pebble watch, that works much better.
Apple really needs a new revolutionary leader like what they had in Steve Jobs for them to get back into the innovation stage, because so far, over the last 3 or so years, nothing in the product line-up has made me want to purchase it.
The idea of Apple being too expensive, well that's been there from the start. They make polished products, and so therefore they put their price to reflect that. In reality you are really paying for the experience of the product, rather than the features - as there are many competitors that have better hardware than what apple offers.
The only thing from that line-up that made me remotely interested was the new Air Pods, but they are quite expensive, so I don't think they are worth it at their price.
