What do you think of these more simplistic character designs?

Hey I was wondering what you guys thought on these simplistic character designs for some context, the one in white is a minor antagonist and his brother is a minor antagonist turned rival. They're supposed to function as symbols the Upstander is a symbol as a war angel and an example of justice, he gives the people hope. The Upholder, his older brother is a symbol of fear and more of a shadowy figure. How do you think the designs work in that context?

I like how the Upstander reveals more skin in a way that suggests a literal openness and honesty, which are very good traits to have for an example of justice (or so you would think?). And the Upholder being totally covered plays into his whole mysterious deal as well. Also, I love how his height is just "freakishly tall." XD

And is the Upstander meant to be a minor antagonist or protagonist? I'm a little confused.

I think this art style is very viable on the Tapas/Webtoon platforms. I wonder, if these are minor characters, what the main characters are going to look like?

Excellent thoughts you put into the symbolism behind the characters. They embody their larger meanings, which is exactly what you want from your art!

Nice question they're both antagonists and Upholder is only an antagonist until a certain point, while Upstander isn't a particularly bad person, Upholder is morally ambiguous at best. You see, the story revolves around fighters and the double-edged ideologies they hold and the effect of propaganda. While neither of these guys are bad, they are people the MC has to overcome.
