I've talk to some people about what I want to accomplish with my work. I told them I just wanted to write my stories, with no popularity, it means no group of people holding pitchforks for the smallest thing I do. It's difficult to explain this to people as I know they told me if they had my "talent" they would shoot for popularity. Personally, I don't want to be, considering there are a plethora of people who wants to be popular, I see that there are no shortages of artists and storyteller out there.
Something I realized when I was younger and not wanting anything else except popularity, the people who liked my work, they are all on the same race that I was in. It got me thinking about how much this means to some people. So, I ask myself, "Was I important to these people?" The answer? No, I wasn't important to these people, I was only a post or letters to them, obviously.
Based on modern day popularity, numbers aren't impactful, and it shows when you look at the landscape of social media and compare it to politics. I'm not saying I want to change the world with my works, but I just think it's interesting that two worlds can exist at the same time and in their own bubble.
That made me see things in a different way, if everyone wants to be popular then I'd rather not play a game I know everyone is losing in. I wanted to play the game not many people are playing, and that is writing for the people that don't exist yet, people that I'll never live to see. You could say I want to be a part of something humans don't think exist yet. No, I'm not inventing a new way of writing, I'm just a speck in history like everyone else. However, my works aren't for modern day entertainment, nor is it for the publics. For whomever it may be, my intention is to give hope to those people. I want to show that person that we still have love even if we can't change the world. That is what I want to accomplish with my work.
I just hope that I live long enough to finish my story and pass it on to the next person.
