One way I like to think of "Marketing" as a parable to "Success". What is the definition of the word? There are tens of thousands of blueprints and self-help guides on "how to be successful". Every time a new one is written, it's predecessors are "dated". In reality though, success is very relative and specific to things you personally value, present obstacles, and resources at your disposal. So you won't find a clear A-Z guide that will get you where you really want to be. Usually you'll end up with a bloat of routines to juggle requiring farming of life/productivity-hacks when "things just aren't working out". (I fell victim of this after launching my first comic)
So instead of adopting principals and templates to create a marketing strategy, I recommend you identify your most immediate & specific goal, and try to find an action-item that will efficiently solve that specific problem and reveal/create other opportunities. Then figure out how those opportunities fit within your holistic view of your values goals and resources. Whatever you end up that holistically integrates and increases your market-value is really Marketing. Not the templates that get you there.
