What does your male lead do that's different from how male leads are usually portrayed? (How does he break away from the mold)

Something I also think strays away from many romance male lead tropes is that Kattar isn't the overly aggressive, bad boy type male lead (which I personally dislike) who will touch/force into an uncomfortable (say, wall slam) position/kiss the female lead without permission. He's respectful without being timid OR shy, because it is NOT sissy to be respectful, though for some reason they act likes it's somehow cool or "hot" to write pretty aggressive guys who always try to push their way into the personal space of rather timid female leads (I've seen this in more than one MV, and though this isn't a show, it's a script written by SOMEONE, and I'm sure it's in a lot of other stories too)

Another male lead who's like this that I like is Takeo from "My love story."

I think my male lead Jinwoo's personality greatly strays away from the way most male leads are written. He has no filter, but without making him the total bully jerk male lead cliche, because most of his thoughts aren't mean or cruel, and he never says things to tear people down or upset them.

He's as blunt about his likes as his dislikes, but both are just his honest way of expressing himself without intent to bother anyone. He also tends to find things other people would never think of strange or amusing.

He is neither extremely shy and self-conscious nor very suave. His way of speaking is rather unconventional, but most of the time he doesn't feel awkward about that fact.

He's also obsessed with princess stories/fairy tales, and not even slightly shy or ashamed of it.

I've not seen another story where the ML stems uncontrollably when he's nervous. My ML habit is rocking. He can't turn it off if he's upset or scared and he often doesn't even realize he's doing it.

Also the ML of "Damsel in the Red Dress" maybe the only time I've seen a male lead who isn't supposed to be the 'loser' character who somehow ends up with a pretty girlfriend or the underdog kid who wants to be a superhero still be written as very physically frail. Kattar's frailty isn't really something he can help, but he's conscious of the fact that he moves like an old man, and it seems out of place given his appearance.

Might be done before, and I just don't know it. But while my male lead is loyal to his one crush, he regularly keeps losing feelings for her. He still believes that he wants to be her partner for life, but even though they legit just started going on dates and things, somedays he's head over heels for her and other days he couldn't care less, and he's not faking either.

It makes more sense in context lol.

I don't know many stories that address male struggles with their appearance. My male lead is bulimic, trying to recover.

I also don't know a lot of stories where brothers are openly willing to admit being attached to their older sisters, but he goes everywhere with his older sister and isn't embarrassed by that, though he is often frustrated by her. She's his best friend so he goes to her when he knows he needs help, which is often at the point when the story starts. He's also not really someone trying to save her, but he's not ashamed to let it be vice-versa

For one thing my male lead is a full five inches shorter than the female lead and he has no issues with that. But he also has a tendency to seem like he's "settling" just because he genuinely loves people enough to want them to feel good even if they aren't the nicest to him, or the situation isn't great. He's not passive or a pushover, he just is secure in himself, so even when he himself isn't talked too kindly, he just chooses to ignore it so he can continue caring for those he loves.

Most of my male characters are drag queens or onnagata. I think that's pretty different lol. Many are deeply in touch with their feminine selves, and they are on a spectrum of femininity. I think to want to wear feminine clothes, one is a little bit different from what the stereotype of a man is. A lot of men are scared to explore that side of themselves.

Dominic is neither a super suave player type or super awkward around the girl he likes. He's confident enough to talk to her, but that doesn't mean that his feelings don't show on his face, and the way he honestly allows the things he feels to show without feeling the need to close up or hide his emotions is something I think is pretty rare for the way male characters are written, and makes him stand out. If he's happy he's happy, if he's not he's not. He really always stands as he is and people have the choice to accept that or not.

I guess by modern day standards, Psychoborg is different because he doesn't follow the modern style of writing a male character. He's more like an 80s action hero. Plus, what also makes him different is that he is not dumb muscle. He has a dirty mouth, a tough attitude and a tough exterior, but he's actually a genius, a tinkerer and a pretty big nerd also.

My mc is clinically insane. He also doesn't bat an eye in the face of extreme violence, but has a kind heart. His muscle mass is also far beyond his earthling peers.

My main character is called Zayn and where he stands out from the others is in his psychology. At a very young age he was separated from all forms of love and was confronted with the worst vices of which humans are capable. He grew up in such a harmful situation that he realised that if he didn't fight for his goals, nothing would change and his suffering would continue. Usually, this situation is enough to determine the rest of a main character's life, but mine quickly became aware of what he wants to do and, above all, what he has to do. What also makes him different is his dangerousness: if he was forced to choose between killing someone he loved or ending this world, he'd be capable of going all the way for that person's safety.

Leander does not have his life together. He's 22 years old and spends his days listening to radio shows, numbers stations, and getting odd jobs to scrap together enough money to make rent. He's not on social media [he doesn't even have a phone haha] and he doesn't feel any pressure to act the way society tells him to act. He's unapologetically himself, the good and the bad. And that's a really powerful thing to be.

I think the thing that makes Chili the most different is his history. His family has immigrated to two different countries (from Malaysia to Paraguay and then the U.S.) over the course of two generations, and this has taught him to get used to not always having friends around or fitting in. He is eccentric but he doesn't really do it to be ostentatious, but more because that's just the way he is, and if he's not going to fit in anyway, he might as well just be himself

My male lead is not really shy but despite the fact that he'll hold conversations with people, he rarely looks anyone in the face when he's doing so for more than a few seconds. Some people think he's slow or timid, but most of the people around him realize that this habit has nothing to do with his intelligence or bravery, he's just different.

My main male lead uses the archetype of the "jaded veteran who needs to rediscover their purpose/meaning of life/passion/etc." often found in action series, but his personality is somewhat different from how those characters are usually portrayed.

Rather than being stoic, closed-off, and tough-talking as the archetype is usually portrayed, he's actually pretty laidback. The way he keeps people at arm's length is also very subtle. Rather than actively shun other people's company, he tends to frame their existence as mere vehicles of his day-to-day needs and objectives.

This isn't my male lead, but my secondary male lead is the father of the male lead, not a rival, or a secondary love interest for the female lead. He and the male lead both share the goal of keeping their whole family, (and harbor sister/daughter who is not technically a member of their family) safe, and they mirror each other in a number of ways for this reason. However, father is a lot more outgoing and playful like a typical action protagonist than son, who is reserved and quiet, almost like the rival type character.
