So, for Engram, I typically started out with a very rough sketch and the first draft of the dialogue, which I then use to do full color storyboards to plan out the composition.
Then I went and did like, 3-4 sketches (it was actually insanity)... (this is from a different page than the one above, I just happened to have these two images on hand).
And only THEN did I ink...
For my new project I'm trying to go straight from boards -> lineart, with maybe a few things sketched out (like hands, I can't wing drawing hands most of the time). Although there's been some funny moments when it comes to drawing the original boards to sketches, like this one, which I call The Woof.
Same. I picked up the habit when I had horrible migraines and literally could not look at a white screen, and have stuck with it since then.
