What genre should this novel be?

Originally I had this marked as a Romance Novel because it is a romance novel. It is also Fantasy, that is what I have it marked as now.
Please read the description and let me know what you think it should be.

Lady Death | Tapas

After six months in a faerie death camp, Lady Railynn Leona Tal awaits her execution. The human kingdoms have gone too far, capturing fae to torture and kill them, only because they wield magic. With war on the horizon, the fae kingdoms must ally together. Putting differences aside, Railynn and her new allies must work together to fight off the invading humans and protect what is left of the magical realm. Even if it means Railynn must enter an arranged marriage to do so. But can she go through with it if her heart might belong to another?

With the scope of that story, I'd definitely go fantasy. You don't have "just" a romance (even though good romance stories have some kind of overarching narrative, as well), but the romance is a means to an end within your actual story. I'd say that a publisher would mark this "fantasy" and then "romance" as a sub genre.

the romance genre as the main genre is typically most appropriate when the plot revolves around the romance. beauty and the beast is what i would, technically, call a romance genre story. even if it does involve stockholm syndrome and not inconsiderable abuse. but like that 50 shades technically romance if entirely about an abusive relationship that one party doesnt realize is abuse because they dont have a frame of reference for what is and isnt acceptable

Well, I've been reading your story... I had to make a decision between the same two genres for my own story, which is a 50/50 mix of fantasy and love story (with thriller/action thrown in, which I'd say yours has too). I went with fantasy for mine because of the timing of when the story elements showed up. Romance takes a while to show up in my story. Fantasy shows up immediately. If someone starts reading my book expecting to start shipping on page three, they may think I misled them about the type of book they were getting. On the other hand, by the end of chapter one, a woman turned into a panther. No confusion there.

You also start with fantasy and action. So, I vote fantasy.

By the summary you posted it looks like the war and it's consequences has more weight in the overrall story than the romance so I would go with Fantasy or Adventure

From having read a bunch of your story I would say it's a high fantasy. While it does have romance in it later on, I think people looking for romance on this website want romance stories to be like--mostly 95% romantic from the get-go with other genre sprinkled on top.

Definitely fantasy. It doesn't appear to be fully aimed on romance constantly, so I personally would class it as fantasy. Every story, even horror has romance, but fantasy is the main factor in this case.

I definitely agree with Fantasy. The romance part looks like just a part of the whole thing whereas romance stories focus mainly on the relationships rather than political intrigue, where it can be just the background.
