What happened to typing our novels?

I always write in MS Word so it can spell check everything. Then, cut and paste it into the platform. I can send it to editors in Word as well. So, it's better to keep a copy of it, so it's just not all on the platform. I am still typing my novel, but in a Word file. I can back it up that way too. Platforms have a way of either closing, or not being perm. I've had two close on me while working on my current Kpop serial romance. So, yeah. Typing is done on a laptop into an MS Word file. Then, cut and paste. I do understand that whole stream of conscious onto a platform writing window. But ALWAYS save a copy somewhere else. Nothing online is permanent. Back it up, always.

I use Scrivener and then copy and paste to the platform like Tiff524. I like having it in a secondary location in case something happens and the site goes down. Scrivener works well with the way I organize documents, but I really suggest keeping copies multiple places. I keep mine on a flash drive as well as the cloud as well. Technology is great- until it isn't. We put so much into our writing have mechanical failure, or a site goes down or has some kind of glitch. Losing over 70k words would break my heart.
