Most promotion threads are sub-for-sub, and the result is that my 20 subscriber comic had only 4 reads on it's newest chapter for days.

yeah please don't do that. I hate it when people do this to me. I have blocked people for this. Doesn't matter how good the work is, I find it incredibly invasive and rude. Who even likes IRL door salesmen anyways?

I would suggest using a different site if it's a fanfic which it seems to be. This site focuses more on original work. Not to mention making money off of a fanfic isn't really good.

You will make money with it if/when you reach enough subscribers. I would suggest putting Mega Crossover on a fanfic site but I'm not sure about Stick Fight. Is it a fanfic as well?

It isn't. It's an original story.

Also, there are fanfiction comics on tapastic that don't seem to have any issues.

These are just my thoughts.

Returning to your question: I would suggest not to do it.

Yes but they are the outlier and they are comics so automatically they would get more view. Its generally not recommended. Just because a few post it doesn't mean its a good idea.

I think your fanfic would do better on AO3 overall if to tag appropriately.

But your stick figure comic, if I'm honest here, sub for sub is awful if you want engagement. It usually just leaves you with a bloated sub count and little actual readers.

Getting actual readers means time, luck, patience and post your art on social media often and alot and of good quality.

What everyone else said is true, but also, if you want people to read your story, maybe consider doing read for reads with people  we are all writers after all and everyone is looking for readers so it's a nice gesture to help each other.

Hola!

From our TOS:

Don't Spam

No one likes spam (unless it’s in a can). Tapas does its best to keep spam on our platform to a minimum. We prohibit spammy activity and the use of related services.

Spamming includes excessive posting of unsolicited content or links. An example of this includes spamming other creators’ wall to self-promote.

If you are spamming other users, this can result in a warning or ban from the site - so please don't do it

I did that and it didn't work. Ironically, I have a sub4sub thing with YOU and I've been a dead sub forever now. I didn't intend to never read it, I just never got around to it.

Please for the love of God don't. It's so annoying when I get people either private messaging me these things or posting them on my wall.

I understand you want an audience, we all do but this isn't a good way to draw people in because it's annoying and goes against the terms of service.

I promise ya that if I get a message like this, I will reply, and usually it isnt a pleasant response. I wish you the best of luck!

Another reason this wouldn't likely be particularly effective is because a large amount (majority?) of non-creator readers on the site use the app, primarily, and there is no way to directly contact those people anyways. If you were to post on their wall they can't see it from the app.

As others have said, this isn't a particularly effective strategy anyways and is more likely to turn people off than it is to entice them, but yeah- those pure readers who you probably mostly want to attract wouldn't be easily reachable anyways with this method.

I guarantee you, a good amount of users will most likely block you on Tapas if you'd do door on door link dumps in their dms. No offense.
