The Disastrous Life of Saiki K is a big one. I've liked the idea of a character staying undercover, so I did the reverse. Saiki lives in a neighborhood full of anime tropes and I've decided to do that... only I wanted to EXPAND on it by doing more genres.
Into the Spider-Verse with the different artstyles inside a stick figure. We even got flashbacks similar to the "My name is [blank]" scenes showcasing the character's worlds.
Smiling Friends with the realistic dialogue. Zach Hadel thinks that it's funny that goofy critters have realistic conversations/mannerisms. In That Stick Figure Isekai we wanted to do something similar where the isekaiers speak like geeks (I found out that I unintentionally do this in this next story I have planned, only more depressing) while stick figures speak like real people.
Spongebob is another one with how blunt the background fish are. I dunno why, but I've always loved the idea where the main characters are cartoon characters but the background characters are much more sardonic. It's almost as if your parents are pointing out little details and making jokes.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure with the stand user battles. Except here, it's a much more comical situation where the stick figures have to cope with the different mannerisms/illnesses their stick figure bodies possess. They are COMPLETLEY nerfed. There is a reason why they're put in specific bodies though. I also admire Araki and how scale doesn't matter to him. A story doesn't need to end in this big explosive battle. Characters don't need to be more powerful than the last.
Suda51 for how he unapologetically makes all of his characters mortal. Not all major characters get a happy ending and anyone could get the axe. He also taught me you don't need to abide by a strict three-act structure and you can do pretty much whatever you want AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A POINT.
Gonna skim through the last. Macross Plus I love for the visual storytelling, Who Framed Rodger Rabbit with the juxtaposition between two worlds (I seem to be fond of this trope), The Office (US) for the awkward humor, and who could forget Diary of a Wimpy Kid :v
This picture says it all:
If you guys wanna know more about my writing influences, I actually have a playlist I watch for my story :v
