Wow, what inspired FireLight? XD It's kind of silly. These things did. They're called sun jars or moon jars and they're basically solar powered jars that glow in the dark. I was fascinated with them and wanted one -- still don't have one, cause they're expensive. I will admit that I have a phobia of darkness and I'm always scared of waking up to ... well, blackness. Anyhow, I liked the idea of catching the light of the sun and storing it into a bottle.
And one night I had this dream of this little girl searching through the darkness to find someone who had ran off with a jar of light. That jar of light was the planet's sun. It was an odd dream, but it kickstarted my brain's engines and I started drawing that little girl: Olivia. Her friend, Sedgwick, is actually my stuffed animal. I should take a picture of him because they look exactly the same! Which is great for poses, just to let you know. I chose that because, Sedgwick -- his real name is Spot -- has always been with me, I used to draw mini comics of him as a kid, because I always thought of him as a guardian while I traveled from state to country with the little dude. I figured, Olivia is a kid, she shouldn't be on her own -- plus that would probably get boring after a while -- and threw Sedgwick in there.
When I first started, I had no script. I just wanted to make to a comic to improve myself. After 20 pages, I realized I should have made a script. We're near to Chapter 2 -- I'm so excited that I kept this up! -- and it's kind of still development?
-face-palm-
But like I said, this comic was for learning and I all ready have a comic on the back burner when I'm done. I love this. I really do, I wish I never stopped in the first place. Hopefully, this will teach me how NOT to make a comic! XD
