About ending the war? Failure.
Or about being better and try again to be a hero? Later on the story, he'll discover that a person very close to him, who he thought was dead, might actually be not so dead. Because of that person, MC may be willing to stop his self-destructive behavior.

Suren is my novel's main character. Growing up an becoming the next cycle experiencing her family's generational trauma, Suren initially started to search for a solution to heal her family. This perspective shifts to becoming her own healer, and coming to terms that healing is a painful act of repeating patterns before breaking their loop, realizing some people will never grow with you and are in fact meant to leave behind.

Suren is burdened by her desire to overshare and cling, and envisions the perfect fantasy of the life she so deeply wants only to end up being wounded when reality shows her she cannot have it as it is so desperately desired. It causes her to isolate herself, retract her trust and feel she is on her own and no one will ever help her in this life.

On the cover, we see her crying whilst appearing to stand strong, a strength too brittle and fueled by the decadent peace it may also come at the cost of her life.

That's a good question, if only there were some kind of way to figure out what happens in the story...

Really tho, the only reason is that it's just the best opportunity she's had, with it basically being handed to her, and she's desperate enough to try it regardless of whatever red flags there might be. I'd love to answer more questions about it if you have any, but I prefer to let the story speak for itself

The main character Xepholen's goal is to keep his younger brother, Zalken safe no matter the cost. At the same time, he is stealing data from the Military trying to find information on a Secret Organization that has been after him.
Since Xepholen is a target, his younger brother is used as a ploy to capture him.

Evangeline's main goal throughout the entire story is split into two different goals. One of them is Evangeline unraveling her past, as she suffers with extreme amnesia, and the other is Evangeline protecting Princess Anastasia as she is thrown into an arranged marriage. Her ultimate goal is to protect Anastasia without cough catching feelings cough. Yet, it is revealed that her past is a lot darker than originally thought.

Well, his goal is to make Separhin a Queen of Laos, destroy all cursed elfs and kill his brother.
That is a lot of goals.

If I would be the writer of Rocky I would say the goal for him is to be successful at boxing.
It doesn´t change through the story and he suddenly wants to be the world champion in cooking
or to become a painter.
It´s not a golden rule for writing which can´t be broken but there are some things that
confuse me as a reader:
-Not understanding the goal
-Not understanding the motivation
-Changing the goal and forgetting about the original goal
That´s why I was asking @blakestackman if Valan´s main goal still stays the same.
When the mother dies then there is no reason to get the medicine anymore but
then he can still get the medicine to help other people. The goal would be
"getting medicine to help people"
