What is the worst anime you've seen?

The whole thing was better done in the light novels, actually. Zaza's guild had a bigger part to play in the original SAO novel, so that story twist made more sense when you read it from the book.

I should know - i OWNED the book. In Japanese.

...But I had to read bakatsuki fan translations. Hah.

Speaking of the light novels; the next part of the story(that comes after Gun Gale Online) is considered the best one since Aincrad. SAO: Aliciziation, I think it was called? I certainly found it interesting, even if it was something of a slow burner at the start.

That's anime adaptations for you - some parts of the original story just have to make way before other priorities, most notably a harsh narrative pace and visual eye candy. XD

I genuinely hope they at least do this arc some justice. I didn't even really bother to watch the movie (Ordinal Scale) though I had been pretty curious.

there's one series that I forced myself through and that was Tokyo Ghoul.

It had some interesting stuff goin on, but the final act was a letdown. Started watching Tokyo Ghoul: Re, and I'm like smh so far...

Had to give up Shokugeki no Souma because of fan service?! Oh my lord... The fan service is what makes that show. Very tastefully done (albeit, the first episode was admittedly a bit much) and always fun. I also like that they tend to give almost equal fan service to both the guys and girls and doesn't matter if you are ugly or beautiful or an old person. Nobody is safe. It's also cool the manga artist used to draw hentai and his drawings are amazing.

My Hero Academia on the other hand... Mineta. Need I say more? I just don't like fan service that is basically sexual harassment which is what Mineta does all the time. Then they even give him a spotlight episode. Don't get me wrong, I love the show and the characters are fantastic, but if Mineta did not exist it would be way, way better.

Yeah, Mineta is disgusting. I haven`t yet met anyone who actually liked him as a character.

When it comes to comic relief characters there are better ways to make them.

For me, it has to be The Fist of the North Star: The Movie, English Dub. FotNS for any not old enough to know was a lousy manga which managed to get enough fan following to be made into a worse television series, one season before being put out of its misery. Then the tv show got butchered to make a one hour movie out of recycled animation. I once heard that by this point even the manga's creator didn't like what it had become. Then Streamline doubled down on the bad by giving the movie an infamously bad translation and dubbing for the North American market. Thus was life for anime fans in the early 1990s.

The end result is a movie which transcends the so-bad-it's-good phase and gets terrible again.

The worst anime I've seen are Mars of Destruction and Garzey's Wing. Mars of Destruction is only a 1 episode 20 minute OVA, but most of it was tedious to get through. The fight scenes and characters were lackluster, but there was a death scene and choices of music during the fights that were unintentionally funny, and those were the best parts! The English dub of Garzey's Wing is hilarious in its badness though, and I'd say it's so bad it's good!

I only saw the promo art and plot for Black Clover and cringed out immediately lol. It was a clear rip off of it's predecessors.

  Cringed out of the first episode, the characters are way too anime.

• SAO
  It promised a story revolving around characters being stuck in an MMO, and the inevitable fights that would ensue. Got a harem love drama instead.

• Harlock: Space Pirate
  Still have no idea what the plot even was for this movie. Felt like it was written by 13 yr old fanficcers who were just throwing as many tropes together as possible. Also why were the girls wearing G-strings on the outside of their clothes?!

I would suggest a couple lesser known gems though: 12 Kingdoms and Seirei no Moribito. 12 Kingdoms starts with very horrible, whiny main characters. But if you stick with it you get rewarded by the end.

In recent years, I'd say One Punch Man and Devilman.
I get the appeal of both anime simply because they use tricks that can easily hook the public and doesn't seem to go beyond that. Everytime I think about it, I find OPM and Devilman really shallow narratively, the execution etc.

Aside of been the mistake kid of Naruto and Fairy Fail, it has badass OPs that made into my playlist! Also I would argue it is a nice comedy too especially the animation lol, what's up with their nose man...

When the animation team is so shredded that mouth layers are floating on screen on their own, and the torso of a character is missing.

This is the same kid over the course of 2 episodes. He's a magic face-changer. JK the animation team is just so disjointed that no one seemed to have communicated on what the kid is supposed to look like.

While not the worst anime (and I say this from a bunker behind a shield where the stans won't find be able to reach me) Yuri On Ice wasn't that great and doesn't deserve a movie. (And while I'm on the subject of not that great, Madoka was pure shock value and actually pretty bland too)

Darling In the Franxx (specifically the second half, they could have had something great, everyone who stuck the first few eps could feel something building but nope, they decided to ruin it)

Angel Sanctuary. The anime was a terrible adaption, covered nothing, took away the beautiful detailed art style of the manga, never mentioned angels, and just blandified (yeah so bad I had to make up a word) everything.

And sorta related to the top but (I say as a mecha fan) I don't understand Gundam. I've tried to watch so many of them and they're just so boring.
