Of course there is healthy shipping and unhealthy shipping. There is nothing wrong with liking a couple. The problem is when it becomes an obsession and people gets aggressive over it.

I think the prime example of unhealthy shippers, in recent time frame, would be certain members of the voltron fandom becoming aggressive and threatening members of the shows team over canon and non canon ships.

If I were to have any kind of fandom my main wish would for them to be respectful, first and foremost. Beyond that to have people who are inspired by what I create, people who theorize and care about the characters and the lore of a story. It feels like a faraway dream but it's nice to think of

Me for my part I would like to have a smal but friendly readership who enjoy my comic. I'm drawing my comic anyways so it doesn't matter how many actually read it.

I agree! I have a lot of secrets and mysteries in my novel Destiny Awaits and would love to see readers dissect the story as they cry/scream/whatever over their fav characters. It's a romance fantasy mystery (?) and I've fallen in love writing it. I'm always surprised with every twist and turn (even though I wrote it ). I just want my readers to do the same. And, cosplay?! I would LOVE to see cosplayers or maybe just a tv show/movie. You know, the works. That's the dream

It's so fun shipping characters and disagreeing on those ships with those you met from something you love and eventually became close to. I ship my own characters, too, and love seeing who others see together or not. It's fun and interesting. You see your characters in a new light that you might not have before

But honestly..... what I hoped for from the very start was for people to care about these characters. Not in a "I WANT TO MAKE PEOPLE CRY B/C THEY FEEL FOR THEM" sort of way, just... having opinions about these people, as people. Relating to them or disagreeing with them or liking them or not trusting them.

This is ultimately what I want. I mean, I love to see people's theories and who they ship and whatever, but I just want them to care about my characters. Hate, love, whatever. I want readers to treat my characters like real people-- have opinions and thoughts and emotions as if my characters are someone they just met. My characters are real to me, so I'd like it if others thought they were to.

Three-layered cake, yes! My novel has so many hints upon hints upon hints... I'm still waiting for that moment when everything is revealed. I'm so excited to write it because I don't know what will all happen either! And I can't wait until my fans discover everything, too. I really enjoy reading their reactions and seeing who they ship (because I love shipping my characters, too). I love just seeing the reactions and thoughts of my readers, good or bad (hopefully good). If they love my story, it makes it all the better

It's difficult to say...I wish my readers were avid critics? I wish they could be provide constructive criticism when there's room for improvement. Even more-so, I wish they could appreciate the meticulous amount of detail and effort I put into my pages, the story i'm trying to tell, the characters i try to build, and the themes i try to explore in the story.

It's too early for any of that detail to truly shine, but maybe in the future. I just wish people would notice my effort.

honestly, an engaging fanbase would always be a welcome

otherwise, I can do with any fanbase tbh, however, I wouldn't expect ones comprised of kids

both my humor and tastes for all of my comics are anything BUT for kids

maybe 16-year-olds minimum

just imagine it, you are making a highschool comic about gods that require some basic knowledge of mythology to get some of its literal edgy humor, and another comic about the deep philosophical idea of existentialism, and your fanbase is comprised of elementary kids and middle schoolers. how
