What Motivates You?

So, as of today, I've been on Tapastic for around...2 or three days--I've had my tablet for the same amount of time. Not long at all in comparison to many of you, and in my time here, I've produced a single series "EarWorm".

Before this, I had drawn all my comics on paper. But...something was missing. I never knew what it was.
One day, I showed one of my friends a comic I did on paper and while it was nice, he brought up an interesting point: Who would see it besides them and my parents? Now, I know I could've gone and scanned it and put it on the web, but the thing is I don't have a scanner (that's working anyway). So when I bought a tablet and started drawing, and people started noticing my stuff (10 subs bois) I got REALLY happy. People, other actual people were noticing my stuff and I just loved it. What motivates you?

Pretty much, the same. It feels great when I put my work out there and others like it. Feels even better when I make a comic and people like it...that's what motivates me and keep me going.

I'd love my work to be the inspiration for someone someday, just as my favourite artists and writers were for me.

Oh, absolutely fellow creators. Interacting and talking with artists and writers about what they're doing and how they're getting along with their projects can be the ultimate inspiration meal. The energy you get from other people is virtually electric, yeah?

At times, though, I will admit that new video games motivate me, heh~ I'll power through exercises and sketch studies so that I can reward myself with a little game time and dude, it's worked out nicely for years. X]

Welp. The reason I started making comics because I want to see my characters interact at each other. Then, what drives me forward is the sense of accomplishment. Feedback, comments and the finishing and publishing of a page felt awesome.

The main thing is that I just want to get my story out there! I want to get my comic written, drawn, and posted online just as proof I really made it.
Plus, it's a great feeling when you get subs and likes, knowing that real people actually like your work.

When I think about it

I'm actually interested in all this just because...
I can't describe it any more clearly, but I simply like stories

If I don't make them, then I read them
Sometimes both

Of course it would be better if I had skills

Everyone has a skill they're good at. I look at writing like...peeling an onion (Shrek Reference). Your Exposition is the first layer to it all and the center is the resolution. If it's a good onion, it'll make the audience cry with joy.

The main thing that motivates me is to improve my art, making a comic is a great way to improve art as it forces you to draw stuff you wouldn't usually draw. (For me it's background and scenery)

I think Lin-Manuel Miranda put my feelings into words really well not too long ago:

I think that’s what all artists do, you know? "What is the thing that only I can contribute?" It's not about having the confidence to say HELLO WORLD and HERE IS MY IDEA THAT’S NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE, it's about, this is in my brain, and unless I express it, it's going to stay in my brain. It's not about imposing my will on the world, it's about personal expression. It's about… if I don't get it all out, it's going to die with me.

What motivates me? That's a good question. I think mainly is the story I have. I have been working on it for 8 years (since 2008!!) and I have finally started to illustrate it. I wanna share my story and hopefully people gravitate to it. I have an entire world fleshed out, JK Rowling is one of my inspirations when it comes to world creation, so you know I have put my work in to make this world feel real. I just wanna share this story with everyone, that's my main motivation!

tell my story, I feel which is a good thing and I get tired of that East only in my mind, perhaps not read 10000 people but that someone you know this and like and read each chapter wanting of more, I feel that my task is achieved

My motivation is the overwhelming urge to tell stories - having an audience to listen to/read it is nice, but I am an obsessive storyteller.

I would be drawing my comic even if only my mom was reading it, you know?

I'm pretty sure I would be drawing comics or drawing even if I didnt have the plan to share my stories with the world...but sharing those stories and finding out that people DO like what I do gives me a goal to work towards- therefore, it motivates me.

And yeah- making money from doing it is a NICE extra added bonus..!

You're doing a fine job with your tablet ^_^ I remember when I got mine I cursed the darn thing cuz I couldn't handle it xD Now I can't live without the precious lol...
My motivation comes from subs xD I get really happy and pumped to draw more whenever someone subs. Another huge motivation is I know where my story is headed, and I'm excited to get to certain plot points so I draw a lot to get there faster. I spend about 5 to 7 hours on a page and still manage to finish at least 1 page a day (sometimes 2 when I really get into it) Having no life helps here...

I have to believe that what I have to say is important - that's my motivation. Of course, encouragements from readers and friends is also pretty stimulating.
