The thing with political cartoons as well is that people tend to project their own politics on to the wider population. But what's actually more likely is that half of people will disagree with your viewpoint, so right off the bat you're potentially alienating half of the people who might stumble across your work.
Politics has it's place in comics, of course, there's a rich history of that. But that history is more aligned with newspapers and political magazines. I think most people come to sites like this one for their fix of fantasy and romance, i.e., a temporary escape from the real world.
