The mainstream media or pros at stoking the flames of paranoia and fear. They've been at it for years now, it didn't happen overnight because of Trumps victory. Look at Iraq, they said there were "reports" from "foreign sources" at they had weapons that could cause harm to the world and look where that go us. They same thing with Afghanistan. But It's no surprised that they have not said a word about China. After all, the CCP has a grip on the media and what they say. Corporations too since they have connections with China.

Not saying they aren't culpable in affecting public opinion but this Tik Tok issue is a purely political issue. None of the rhetoric is matching what would be an appropriate action if data collection by foreign powers was the true concern.

The reports that were provided for action were from our U.S. intelligence agencies , not mainstream media. Same applies to Afghanistan. Moving into a military conflict requires actionable intelligence ... of which, The U.S.'s did not hold up.

But none of that is on mainstream media.

instagram kept showing me gross videos on the explore page. Not sure why. As for ads, mine were mostly artsy stuff with an occasional weirdly meme-worthy ad.

I keep getting disgusting videos on instagram as well, especially pimple popping videos. If you click on it there is an option to mark it "Not Interested", it will help the algorithm avoid those kind of things.

oh god UGHH those. I bloody hate them so much. They're so disgusting ughhh. I also got shown leeches and worms. it's alright tho, I stopped using Instagram a bit ago, partially because I couldn't escape those. I see some similar stuff on Snapchat but it's easier to avoid because I literally only use it to talk to 2 people sometimes lmao.

For some reason dogs humping things gets lumped in with the comedy videos, which I also find a little gross. I'm not sure what fascination Instagram has with exploding zits and horny dogs, but it's getting really annoying.

Yeah that's also gross. MArginally less than the zits but still ugh :\ I'm glad I left all of the social media lol.

On-topic, I think tikTok got popular because people missed Vine after it closed down. I don't think TikTok would replace Vine but it's similar enough I suppose.

I speculate the same thing. A lot of people who ironically use Tik Tok make parody videos similar to those of Vine, as opposed to the music videos it was actually intended for.
