As a creator there's always that one elusive tool that could make your work so much easier.
It could be a new set of pencils, ink pens, paper, watercolors, a printer, art or editing program for your writing like scrivener or scribendi.

What tool are you saving up for or hunting down and why?

For me it's refills for my Pentel Ain Clic eraser since I love how it always gives me a great angle/control, and an upgrade from Clip Studio Pro to EX so I can story/export multiple pages for comics/fanzines.

Maybe you're looking for a tool to do a task but don't know what tool you need?

Somebody might know what ruler, program, or material you're looking for and where to find it.

I'm saving up for an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, but it's ridiculously expensive so my mom agreed to split the cost with me ^_^

I haven't gotten around to being able to save up for it yet but I've got my sights set on an iPad + Apple Pencil so I can make art on the go. Being cooped up most of the times been especially draining so I'm hoping I can shake loose and maybe even draw outside

In terms of stuff I'm looking for: probably some good Medibang brushes since I've been trying to find something that can emulate SAI's textured brushes, a few have come close but man I'd like to get close to that watercolour look :persevere:

Some kind of mobile studio (a good one)

So I can keep drawing when I'm on the road.

But later also getting a new desktop. :>

@dawgofdawgness Oh cool! You're mom is being super helpful with that. I hear Procreate is an awesome program for making comics with those. I'm guessing you're wanting them to help with comics since that's what you're picture implies? I hope it's not also implying stress.

@VibrantFox I had no idea so many people were looking into the ipads for making art! That's so cool~ I'm not to familiar with Medibang's brushes, but I totally understand being in love with the textured Sai brushes. :heart_decoration:

@djwaglmuffin Mobile studio? So a program you can use from multiple devices? Would a laptop cover both those desires?

Scrivener! o/
I really like how organized it is, and the tools it has.

I kind of want to buy a Gaomon display tablet ( cheap alternative of Cintiq ). But still looking for a supplier since amazon doesn't ship to our country

@spicy_sweets I hear YWriter works similar and is free till you can get a copy of Scrivener. Are you planning on getting a copy before NaNoWriMo?

@djwaglmuffin Oh snaps and dang that is some nice hardware... dang it now I want one too~

@fuyudust Ouch, shipping can be a real pain. I haven't heard of the Gaomon, I'll have to look it up!

That is so cool of your mom`s part!

personally i have a great experience with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. It felt just like drawing by hand.

The program i use and liked a lot was Adobe draw. But i recommend you to see which program works better for you.

My personal recommendation before buying anything is that, if it`s possible, try the product first to see if it feels good for you.

Hope you get your tablet soon!

It is!! ^_^ my friend draws on her iPad and I've tried it out a couple of times - she has Procreate as well and it works like a chaaarm ~

Boring reply, but a pen display tablet!!

I really don't care what brand (cintique is over priced af tbh) so long as the reviews are solid and its fairly big. I promised myself the next tablet I buy would be one, since my current is a wacom pen/touch (no screen) and a little dated...

After that, a giant monitor/desktop and a bigger, sturdier desk to accompany it. But that is like... endgame pay-my-bills-with-art goals.

i really have all that i need digitally, i have an intuos pro M and scrivener, and my art programs are free. what i really want is just a big collection of copic markers. i got myself a few last month and i really like them! it's a shame they're so expensive though, since i don't want to trouble my partners too much with the cost.

@spicy_sweets scrivener is half off if you win nanowrimo! i find it easiest to do that during camp, since you have custom goals. i had a short winning streak so i would give away my winner's code on forums, but i didn't win any this year... you could try asking around to see if someone has a spare code that they haven't given away

the list is endless.
for starters i need a new computer as this one is getting on a bit and problems are starting to show. I would like some equipment to make you tube vids, and I'm looking to get a pdf maker so i can sell digital comics. and yes the big dream is one of these fancy screen you can draw directly on too.

Not really tools for drawing, but I am saving up for some woodworking stuff!

A Nata and an Ono; Two types of axes for splitting wood~

@MissionFailure upgraded to EX earlier this year(birthday present to myself). Havent fully explored it yet; I do like that the "assets" have a LOT more stuff than Pro.

@spicy_sweets I bought Scrivener during NaNo WriMo a couple yrs back. Just a one time payment, and you get updates for free.

I want an iPad & Apple pencil as well. Havent started saving up for it yet, but I think I can put a few pennies in the piggy bank in time to get me one for the holidays. I'm thinking about getting CSP to go with it, but not sure yet...I'm already paying for subscriptions all over the place; I need to reign in my subscription spending.

I also want a Cintiq, but I think I'm gonna wait a little longer for that. I'm a few months away from paying off my student loans(trying to pay off a couple other debts as well), and I wanna take care of all of that so I can be debt free [for now]. I'm still doing pretty well with my Intuos, so I may stick with it a little longer; I thought about getting a 13" Cintiq, but if I can hold out another yr or 2, I may go for a larger one.

Also might look at taking a coloring course next year if my finances allow me to; I really want to get better with my colors.

i havent been specifically saving up for anything right now, but ive been considering getting my hands on an ipad w/ pencil or a touchscreen notebook laptop for doing work on the go - i often find myself at college or at other jobs needing to research and make notes and even sketches and having no way to besides my phone, which sucks.

its also prolly in my best interest to upgrade my tablet at some point - i have a huion h610 pro, which has treated me very well, but it doesnt have tilt sensitivity and a display tablet is defo the end goal.

but im going to uni in a year so im really just preparing for money to be tight as hell lol

I'm saving up (trying to) for a wacom cintiq, not sure on which specific modal because it can change.
