What Were Your Craziest Promotion Ideas?

Did you guys have crazy promotion ideas for your story?

Here's one... I was going to make a Christmas Album this year.

We didn't have time since we my composer friend would need to compose some songs and all that, but yeah... maybe next year. Naota's voice actor is a singer and I realized "Oh shoot, I FORGOT that each isekaier retains the voice from their previous lives!!!". It would've been a fun story where Naota tries to become a famous singer... and due to it being Christmas... he tries to sing Christmas songs.

It was going to have a story in between each song where Naota must learn the "true meaning of Christmas" in a Charlie Brown Christmas Special fashion. You get that laid back music in the background as characters just talk about life. And then maybe they solve a murder. I'm debating about the last part.

It was even going to begin with how Star Wars began ITS Holiday Special. Again, a LOT of crazy ideas. Best I can sum it up is this:

I think my craziest promotion ever was when I almost offered to do NSFW art as a grand prize for a contest. Of course, I did not go through with it because I had a "What am I doing?!" realization just as fast. I still want to get out there as a comic author, but not by crossing my own personal lines. I get some people do NSFW art for a living and I respect, but I am not that type of girl. I only do NSFW on my own time and even then, it's pretty tame.

Anyway, here's what I do, take your pick if any. This is my main project which is all about family, comedy, facing your demons and cupcakes.

For this plan to be executed, I have to get into a high-ranking, influential career position with huge income. Or just, found a way to amass unsurmountable amount of wealth. I would then use my wealth and connection to acquire numerous online story hosting platforms, and just shove my series into everyone's throats since now I own the platforms. You complained about Kakao comics being shilled? Now complain about my comic being shilled and featured every god damn time, or that you have to read them to get ink!

The first half part of the plan itself is highly improbable to happen. Also, unlike thouse soulless billionaire, I'd feel bad to spend a huge amount of money for frivolous and self-serving shit like that. The most I would do is just probably paid-advertising it. On top of all, I always sneer at those whose success largely contributed by their riches and connection, which is unrelated to their work, and whose work would be mediocre at best without those boosts. I don't wanna be my own comedy.

It might not sound crazy enough for others but for me it'd be making an epic cinematic animation trailer like those Japanese animation films for my Webtoon Dawnbreaker. Wanted to make it work but it's so hard to squeeze time and animation is so time-consuming I would have to be on hiatus in order to make that.

Just an absurd idea i thought few years ago: An animated music video for late part of the story, a pencil sketched rotoscope animations of my female character Sanariya singing (like a musical). That song would be written and sung by me

5. Wait for one of them to become more popular than the main comic

I swear I am not even sure if I am kidding lol.

I don´t know if it´s crazy or not but I will go on tour with a comic book through comic shops.
I´ll play/sing the soundtrack song with an acoustic band, then I will draw in the comic shop
and sell the record / comic book. I think that will give me an advantage to the people who
only focus on online promotion

1. Making a videogame divorced from the plot of either of my two series just to get people invested in the characters.
2. Making a blog and talking about my series as if I was a fan. (Not sure if I should disclose being the creator or not.)

Edit: These are just things I thought of. I haven't actually done them yet.

Probably the craziest idea I have is making a small, traditional cel animation trailer for Kickstarter once I finish my comic, and get the final book ready for print. I also dabbled with the idea of making an animated version for contributors as a surprise/secret stretch goal thing, but that's a very pie in the sky idea that would probably be too big of a task, especially since I have little experience with drawing animation.

Craziest thing I've done, submit my comic to the Prism Awards. Which, like... it got in the finals, though I regret doing it to this day since I feel like it was too soon in the story, but I was excited and impatient at the time. Not particularly exciting, or crazy, but it's more than what I've done so far.

my partner used to do little trailers before each chapter update but that caused burnout SO FAST with little results
I actually literally just uploaded this

I wanted to make an elaborate and cinematic-looking animated trailer, but that requires skills I don’t currently have. Composing a soundtrack would've also been cool, and although I have some music skill, I don't have a practical setup for it.
