I'd need to remember the lessons I learned when Homestuck was at peak popularity (I'm in a popular fandub and back in the mid 2010s things got wild) and make my private contact channels ALL "contacts only", because I don't want people trying to DM me through literally every possible channel every day, and that was one of the most annoying things to deal with.

I'd want to get myself some sort of a good legal advisor, and probably an accountant to help manage things, since unlike fan content, I'd actually be making money from it and needing to deal with people who want to license my content.

And I might need to consider moving house to somewhere harder to find or at least harder to get close to for safety. Prominent female gay creators tend to get a lot of death threats and doxxing and stuff, so that wouldn't be super-fun and I'd rather have good security.

I'd likely quit my day job and consider hiring one or more assistants to help speed up production, and I'd be able to consider other projects maybe.

Mostly I'd just roll with things. I don't really think this is a hugely likely scenario, but I've worked with other people's big IP before and have a modest audience, so naturally I've thought about it.

In all seriousness I would probably feel pressure but I don't think I'd change anything serious. I would still continue it as a hobby (though if it brings more money I could hire someone to do the flat colours to save me some time)

first, i would LAWYER UP and make sure i own all the rights to my comic. Rights for movies, tv and interviews, toys, etc... all of them!

second, i would partner with disney / marvel studios and create a solid stable relationship

third, when they do make movies, i would appear as a cameo character just like my idol, Stan Lee, God rest his soul

fourth, when my work and I become a house hold name, the haters would troll all over the social media trying to break me down. instead of defending myself or making clever and hateful rebuttals, i would instead post heart warming videos of thanks and support to my supporters and fans of the FRANCHISE.

fifth, when my FRANCHISE becomes a mega corporation of vast wealth, i will post videos helping the less fortunate , like building wells for water deprived poor villages. just like celebrities do to make people like me more

If Cracking Eggs had success like that, there will be book bannings for Eric and Winston’s relationship, a bunch of Karen’s throwing flaming Cracking Eggs copies at my doorstep and significant media attention. It would be a challenged book all because of Eric and Winston.

I'd probably end up spending waaaaay more than just a day or two, if it's Demon Slayer/AOT level popularity 'Cos even if there aren't that many video essays, I'd still want to see all the fanfics, fanarts, TvTropes entry, random comments by people discussing it on the internet ... etc

But largely I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing; I won't feel pressured to speed up/worry about maintaining quality because it's public domain; if they want more/faster or didn't like where I took it, they can make their own version I might feel compelled to defend myself if someone is attacking me or misinterpreting my work too badly though (I'll try my best to shrug off harmless misinterpretations, no matter how cringe I end up finding them :'D)
