What would you want your readers to think about your comic/novel?

I want people to laugh, and I want people to learn. My MC is a mess and she’s kinda problematic at the start—she doesn’t trust her own judgement and she relies on her best friends to decide how she should act. But her friends are also wrong and have problematic responses to situations. I want readers to learn alongside my MC to trust their own judgments instead of thinking that other people must have it “more figured out”.

I'd love it if my readers thought my story was interesting and different from other works in the genre.
I also want them to get a sense of peace, since my story isn't really high-energy or high-stakes, and if they fall in love with the characters, that's a bonus!

My novel has a personal theme surrounding generational trauma. The severity of its damage is often forced on the next generation, leaving no one unscatched. If my novel can do one thing, its leaving a reader with the plea to acknowledge eachother's pain and allow the road to recovery to begin.

But if its a reader that experienced the same hell as I did? I want them to see there is hope and that I understand. I am here, and you are not alone.

Honestly,I just hope they have as much fun reading as I had writing my story. Most of my story is fluff with some drama sprinkled throughout and I had a lot of fun including some tropes of the main genre. (Being BL.) I hope my readers don't take the story too seriously and just enjoy it for what it is.

I mostly want to inspire people and to give others who feel crushed by the machine the sense that they're not alone.

I just want people to love my OCs too!! Fanart would literally be the coolest thing in the world

And this times a thousand, too. As a writer, the whole "a picture is worth a thousand words" deal stings since I can't draw. There's only so much I can convey to my reader with words without going overboard and turning an entire chapter into a drag of character description.

For me it's what many people have already said, I just want my readers to enjoy my story as much as I do and get them to follow my characters' journey and relate to them. Not much else

It is a normal drama/BL with school setting about growing up. A normal mainstream story, totally not weird or confusing in any way. ️

On a more serious note, I hope it is enjoyable to them. Just it. Oh, and probably it has nice characters and concepts.

I want my readers to be intrigued and questioned enough to think about what I’m trying to say... and even though I’m curious about their internal process and own personal position about the episode’s theme I’m hardly pushing any answer myself, or at least I try not to... just a push to get readers reflect on a subject...

Hi @amortelito! Interesting thread!

What I would love to evoke with my story and characters to the audience is... a sense of being family, comedy, and a positive spin on life to be optimistic despite life having downfalls sometimes. The impression I hope the audience has about my work is something that it's free flowing and a feeling of the comic being effortless which is hard to come by but I am working on that.

Not to mention I have cubital tunnel syndrome so drawing hand doesn't work now but I will be referred to a physical therapist soon.

The comic I'm talking about is called Open Flame.

Adding this in but most importantly for the audience to enjoy the story and be entertained!

Honestly? I just want them to have fun with it and not think of it as a chore to read. I want people reading my books to actively enjoy the plot, the characters, the drama!

I always find it neat when readers notice themes. My work can sometimes be mysterious and I don't always spell everything out to the reader, so I love it when they "Get" it. XD

Particularly, with Inheritance, I want to evoke intense feelings from the audience. I don't care what kind. I think if I have invoked any kind of intense feelings, then I have done my job well.
