Hello to anyone who knows me or doesn't

I just happened to realize something mid edit and I wanted to use this opportunity for us creators to share our work while also pointing out some things in our earlier writings that were hard to execute! Of course, I'll start :]

For a Fantasy, Gl, romance I legitimately do not know how to write really juicy romance. It's a bit sad to be honest, but I'm working through it and trying to figure out what works best when I'm writing the relationship between the main character Lucille and her gf. Boy, is it an interesting time writing something that I haven't exactly experienced, but wow is it worth it! The moment I can feel all warm inside while reading what's happening, the moment I realize that I'm learning to write something I've never written before!

Feel free to share a moment or time when you didn't know/had a hard time writing something and how you worked through it. And don't forget your link! (I'll gladly sub or like a few episodes :])

I've mostly written serious novels, so my current novel is quite different from what I'm used to (since it's a BL comedy)! I've written short comedy stories but not a long-form one. Sometimes, I find myself worrying that I didn't include enough hilarious moments in the novel or that the jokes are not of a consistent style. In the end, I just make sure I consider the comedy aspect when I do my editing. Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun writing this since it gives me a way to make fun of a lot of terrible romance stories!

Hopeless romantic Yu Junming is over the moon when he lands a job at the RomCon startup helping clients to orchestrate their love stories in real life. Honestly, If I was able to stay reading one novel right now I'd choose this one. I read the beginning few uploads and was super hooked cause it was really funny and cute! I could see everything that was happening so vividly and honestly? It's just a great idea! I just thought it'd be a good time to let you know that you're doing great since I've seen you around the forums a lot but haven't had the chance to say anything

I don't got a novel, but hey! I struggle with romance too! Since my teens I've attempted 3 times, eventually gave up, figured it wasn't meant to be. I kinda lost interest too after my hormones leveled out, although with my current project I've realized I'd rather have my readers be fully established with my characters before doing a romance thing. Like, the main relationship in my story is platonic, but I've thought about doing a small crack softcore porn/romance thing for my final Kickstarter campaign. Although it wouldn't be very sexy because there would be a lot of exposure therapy, communication and awkward stuff since one of the characters is romantically challenged. Not having to develop the characters from scratch during all this would literally be the only way I can manage.

No worries if you don't have a novel, if it's a comic you can still promote your work! :] Romance do be a difficult subject to write, but I'm glad it worked out for the better

To be honest, as a webcomic artist I often had a hard time deciding on sound effects to use.
English is not my first language and different countries have different comic sound effects which confuse me sometimes.
I had to look through other comics and determine whether it was the correct one to use or not.

Oh naaah, I just wanted to answer your post. You know what's funny is it's easy to write super bad, trashy romance, but making a good one with practical chemistry and character development is SO hard. Especially if you're not interested in engaging in that sort of thing irl.

Dialogue and information is the most difficult for me. I think explaining bits of information that is essential to the story is a balancing act that I struggle with. It's especially annoying if I feel like my art isn't expressing enough.

Thanks for the thread. I've been writing mostly sci-fi, with the exception of one fantasy. Presently, I am writing the third book in The Space Bum trilogy. In the first book, my main character meets a young woman named Heaven Langley, He is a middle-aged man. She sees him disappear into solid rock. In the seven years of his absence, him being considered dead, Heaven embarks on a quest for knowledge in everything from science to the paranormal. In the sequel, The Old Man, they meet again. This time around, having survived on a radioactive asteroid, and being possessed by a sentient entity, he has the appearance of an old white-haired wizard. She becomes possessive. He is something like her Golden Fleece. He (apparently) dies again. A year later, Heaven is called upon to protect the man while getting him to an alien conference. This time around, the main character is a young man. By the end of the third book, which I am currently writing, I would like these two to definitely be a thing.

There are two things I am inexperienced in writing: romance and a woman's POV.

I'm working on a comic, but I wrote the whole script for it in the form of a novel. If I were to be honest, I'd actually say I'm not that good at writing romance as well. Like, I'm decent at writing occasional romance within a story that belongs to another genre, but I'm not very good at writing an entire romance story.
Also, I'm not really good at humor, hence why I prefer writing tragic and dramatic stuff .

In my case, it wasn't so much that it was something hard, but something I realized I'd approached but never actually done.

For context, there's this anime from 2017 called Re:Creators, which was about fictional character coming into the real world to try to save it from those who would destroy it. That's the short of it, but there was a lot going on under the surface, and the show's true identity was about how we create, why we create, and how we relate to what we create. It was amazing, and it was all encapsulated in this bit of dialogue:

"Passion and despair... Bad wishes and good wishes... They were all contained in that moment. And then the story... takes root in someone's heart... and changes that person's world."

And I realized that as close as I had gotten in what I had written, I had never managed to write a story like that...and I really wanted to. And then a spiritual sequel to Re:Creators began writing itself in my head, and I got my chance. And that's the origin of Re:Apotheosis.

Idk, when I was writing novels I had a hard time with descriptions, but now that I have a comic, that's not so much an issue. But things that were easy for me as a novelist are things I have to relearn as a cartoonist. Like my dialog is something I pride myself on very heavily. I think I'm really good at developing characters and having them interact. But dialog in a comic doesn't work the same as in a novel, so I have to relearn things like pacing, timing, etc.

I think I've gotten better at it lately, but early on it was a trial

Both pages are pretty packed, in fact the second one might have more words in it, but I think I'm better at managing my space or smth. Idk how to explain it, it's just something I've been learning unconsciously. It's still tough tho. I have to think a lot harder about what my characters are saying, coming up with everything on the spot doesn't work as well in a medium where the dialog is impacted so heavily by what the readers are seeing

I have a difficult time writing novels and serious stories that don't have fantastical elements. I also have a habit of just writing sci-fi stories. I want to change this, but fantasy has to be the most intimidating thing ever. Specifically with stories like Lord of the Rings. Like no WAY I can do anything that'll stand out in that genre (maybe if I make things more fairy-tale like? I dunno).

The determination and most important part, DISTRACTION! It's always happen and can't fix it up until now. But thanks god I been able to keep up with the weekly update and keep continuing in doing so.
I always like to do read fantasy related story, something that out of your boundaries.
Thus, imaginary begin to create a puzzle. Pieces by pieces, it become a large picture and finally, the world has created, along with the characters.

Genre: Fantasy (I won't say it have much romance, but who doesn't like to read an awkward scene of romance sometimes?)

Hi! Honestly there are many thing I'm struggling with as this is the first comic I'm taking seriously.
What I struggle the most with are action scenes Thankfully there haven't appeared much of them yet, but later on there will be more action scenes. I'm getting kinda scared how this will turn out...
I also struggle with moving the plot forward naturally. I somtimes get the feeling that the stuff happening in the story is too forced/over the top and unnatural.
Also I'm really not good at comedy! I've sometimes tried to do a little comedic relief but I get the feeling the humor is really...boring

But to something more positive: I've found out through making this comic that I really love writing dramatic stuff! Maybe the genre of me next story will be drama/slice of life?

Not really sure. I think there's a dozen of things I have and had a hard time writing. Mostly because there are gaps between some chapters and I would forget some details. Like currently it's now apparent that I'm kinda struggling to write child characters due to how long I've taken to write this series and now that I'm a 20 year old it takes more time from me to imagine how these characters act as opposed to when i was 17 writing these things out quickly.

Hybrid: Humanity

Genre: Fantasy / Action

Description: A story about a half-demon teenage girl lost in a world where everyone is out to get her.

Back in the 1800s, demons invaded Earth and took a sum of their land. Of course, it starts a new era with pre-established pools of magic on both sides at war. Along with that many discoveries are made from the burning bridge between the realms.
