What's the best way to return after a hiatus?

I'm just returning after a long-ish hiatus (a few months) because of some other art engagements, etc. How do you return from this? I'm pretty early on in the story of my comic, and am not sure if I need to send a post out to subscribers, since I haven't lost many, or explain my absence.

If I have informed my readers that I'm going on a hiatus, I'll create a note that I've returned and tell them what I've been doing. I'll let them know that I'll be more active as well.
If I never tell them about my hiatus, I'll also make a small note explaining my sudden leave.

Do you feel like you get a lot of engagement with those notes, or do your readers mostly skim them and not respond or indicate if they've seen the post or not?

Yes! I publish my current comic in webtoon before moving to Tapas. I have made notes informing my readers that I'll be going on a short hiatus because I can't keep up with my own deadline.
And surprisingly, I get more comments than usual. They told me to get some rest and take my time etc.
