The idea that if you have more subs, people will think you're better and read, more subs breed more subs (which given how many people on the forums love to complain abouut popular/promoted comics, you'd think they'd know the number of subs those comics have didn't encourage them to read). And partly because Tapas doesn't tell us about the algorithm clearly anywhere, telling you that subs who don't interact harm your standings rather than help it, so people often don't realise. That, and it's sort of just human nature to assume that more is better.
