What's with all the hate on Sakimichan?

I notice that there seem to be a lot of dislike and bashing toward Sakimichan. I really like her style and I wish to be able to work full time as an artist like her. There seem to be a lot of negativity toward her; why is that? I mean, for example, her Patreon... It's not as if she's forcing her followers to pay or anything(I'm talking about the other post.) If anything, the art community should cheer for her for being one of the many artists that could make a living off of their art.

I actually agree, it's sad to see a fellow artist's success bashed on. Although there are plenty of people defending her as well, so not everyone is thankfully! Despite her intentions or alleged behavior (although this is the internet, I don't know how you can fully rate someone's behavior), she's marketing herself well and finding success from it no matter which way you slice it. It's hope for all of us that it's very possible!

I think it's because a thread that, in my opinion, should have been taken down a long time ago has been allowed to exist on this forum. Since the thread started so negatively, it became a magnet for a hateful mob mentally to fester and gain momentum.

There's a lot of reasons other than that too:
1. Jealousy
2. Insecurity
3. The lure of drama

She has a nice style I'll give her that. I've heard stories about her that weren't all that great from what I can remember but I have the memory of a goldfish so I honestly couldn't tell you what. When people become more well known there will be stories, some good and some bad and unfortunately the bad will spread faster much like high school drama. Do I like her? No. Do I dislike her? Also no. The only thing that does not sit well with me is for the fact she's making money off of fan art, I'm glad she's become successful through her talent but I'd like to see some original stuff from her.

I'd guess some of it comes from jealousy. I mean, who wouldn't want to be able to make tons of money out of just drawing? I'm just happy for her, really.

Also, I heard some things about her "not caring about her fans", but has she actually mistreated/been rude to her fans, or just a case of "she doesn't bother to reply to every single comment and question"? Because if the latter one... a popular artist like her probably gets up to thousands of messages a day, there's sadly no way she'll have time for them all.

I know very little about this person so I can't really say much about this or about how she behaves towards her fans.

As for her making a living through Patreon, I don't know about the whole 'making money off of fanart' thing, not because I really care (it's still her own art and hard work), but more because I'm wondering if she could get in trouble for that? I don't know, maybe not. (Peh, Disney would be more likely to hire her than sue her anyway.) But her work is very well done, so I'd say she more than definitely earns her money, those pieces look like they take a while.

So good on her for making a living off her work, I know I'm envious. XD

The only reason people hate is because she makes sooo much off of fans art (although she does her own characters too) Not too add she gets paid more then some of us through her art.
Me personally I love her art its a great inspiration but others don't see it as art they see it as pure rip offs that she shouldn't be paid for

but my opinion on her is very "meh" I have a friend who actually hates her art style and I tend to agree with her on a few things such as the fact that most of what she does is just fan nude teasers?. I remember a long time ago when she did other stuff but not anymore :v her style is also just... the same each time. I can start to see the repeating cannon of her face structures and body structures after a while.

In no means do i hate her, but I see why people dont like her style, I dont even like it that much, her art is really just a guilty pleasure for me : I soooo...... eh

i dont really care if she makes money off her art, she dosnt upset me the same way some big time auction artists can upset me

I frequent an artist blog where she is talked about fairly often. I think like others said, most of the pure bashing I've seen comes from a place of jealousy. Some actual criticsms I saw (and I share them too) is that her quality seemed to decline recently. Quality in the sense that the anatomy seemed to be going down the drain where as previous portraits indicated she can clealry do better, so it understandably made some supporters upset that they percieve her as becoming lazy. I've only heard about her "bad behaviour towards fans" on tapastic, but I've yet to see any actual evidence or even anecdotes that make sense. Someone claimed she behaves "bad" towards fans because she ignores them. Well, she's not a robot and she's not obligated to respond to every message ever.

I really like her work... well her old work. it is true here work is becoming a one note style and some peopleI guess are tired of that. Plus the fact that her income is based of fan art and not original work. I have seen a lot of her original work and it is amazing, but it is just pure fan art now and I wonder if she will get sued. anyway, i don't know about her alleged bad rep to fans and bad attitude, but she s super popular and people can't expect her to be able to talk with everyone

I like her art of course, I commend her for being successful I mean, thats hard these days. It's just sad that she has to do mature 18+ art to get more fans. I mean from what i've seen recently thats what she does with the fanart.
It's an easy route to success though 18+, because people will pay a shit load for their fetishes.
Now this /treating/ fans badly thing, I mean come on shes famous she can't reply to everyone, and of course shes gonna put the ones who actually pay for her art first, I mean I would. Special service and all that. I haven't seen her treat her fans badly so I wouldnt know.

I think I'd like her more as an artist if she promoted her personal work more instead of the mature fanart. But thats just me.

I agree with what you just said. She cannot reply to everyone and her fans who pay money come first because they NEED to come first. Her fans who pay to see her work are her source of income which pays the bills to keep a roof over her head and puts food on the table. Money is important and if she was to show all her work to everyone then there would be no reason for people to support her.

Hm. Not really sure. I give her a joking "Fack you" because she of her ability but I never heard of negativity towards her. Where have you seen this?

Also, she is a very unique case of someone who can make a very good living off of independent artwork. Very very few make half a million USD on independent artwork. She makes of half a million on Patreon alone. I like her work and I don't take her as inspiration.

I was going to say that her haters are only envious... but I have a question.
I don't know her but I saw that she only exposes copyrighted characters' art (at least on her Patreon), so I guess that's what patreons are paying for... am I right? Or is only to showcase her technique on characters that everybody knows?
I hope the second, because if she doesn't have the permissions to use the characters to make money out of them, she will need a lot more money to face lawsuits in the future (and with all that Disney stuff... good luck to her!).
And, by the way, a "fan art" is something done for passion, without money involved, and not a piece of art done to make money out of copyrighted characters. That is called "commission" (with permission). Without permission... "something you can be heavily sued for".

Honestly, this whole idea of her 'fanart' being suspect is kinda BS in my opinion. People make boatloads off of fanart. Go to any nerd conventions artist alley and you'll find professionals and amateurs selling fanart posters of other peoples/companies characters. From the hate that I've seen, and this is just my own personal two cents, it's a deep seated issue with the fact she's a woman who draws NSFW stuff and is SO successful at it.

There are so many male artists out there who do similar style and up the raunchiness to her levels - but they don't get people bashing them like she does.

Again, I know that might be controversial, but if you go into any male dominated profession (like art) and start making big cash as a woman suddenly people HATE you.

Personally, my site is making a whole $6 a month off of Patreon. Needless to say, I want to be where she is at, and have studied what she's doing to figure out what parts of it can be applied to my own site. I would be happy with a percentage point of what she's doing at this point.

Well, I guess some hates are how she gets paid by drawing fan artworks of copyrighted materials.

I love her style, but at the same time, many of her works are WAAAY too sexual for me.
