I noticed that on desktop the story texts cannot be selected, but if you click on the mobile icon, everything becomes selectable, seriously, does it make any sense ?
I haven't been to those sites for over 20 years. Good to know they're still around. Started my online story telling venture on them way back in 2000.
It's probably an attempt at some sort of copy protection to stop people from stealing or plagiarising other people's fanfic, but perhaps coded with limitations.
That's my point, if you are going to implement a copy protection, make sure it works at all times lolGuess even if it wasn't possible to copy, the texts could be stole one way or another, oh well...
If you're concerned about it, you could message FF.net about it. I imagine though that this is the reason a lot of people prefer AO3. It's certainly none of Tapas' business what they're doing on those sites.
