What's you favorite way to promote?

I don't know about everyone else, but I really dislike promoting, but it's all I do when I'm not editing my work. On the bright side though, I have found two ways I actually enjoy doing it, and that's through a promo-comic I've started for my work, and streaming games in the genre.
So I'm asking what's your favorite ways to promote your work? Because it'd be great to have more methods that aren't so soul-killy.

Getting to know other creators and supporting their work too has been amazing I can't see any of my IRL friends due to the way of the world currently, but I've made a ton online and we share and big each other up. It's been so lovely!

Reddit for Original Characters, webcomics and stuff, and post stuff on Instagram, even use some money for paid promotions.

I really like promoting in threads where you get to promote in an interesting way, like by having your character answer questions or by cryptically spoiling your plot or whatever. It's very fun to write! Making art for my novel is also fun occasionally and I should definitely do it more often.

I'm new. So not sure yet what to answer. For now, I just copy what other do maybe. For Tapas, maybe active in the forum, specially promotion tag. For webtoon, I don't do anything, since no forum.
Oh, I make IG and blog too. And I try to tell some friends, but don't really count for this. since most of my friends are not reading comics.
@TalkingChalk May I know, where do you do paid promotion? Is it effective?

Yeah I mainly post on Twitter. I occassionally post to Reddit and Facebook too. If anyone uses Reddit, then which subreddits do you post to? Need to know because the ones I post to are dead. In the future I hope to use Instagram as well.

On instagram, when you set your profile for the business suite or something like that, it will show you the option to promote your posts (each individually).

Then, you decide which is your goal, if you want more people to visit your profile, or more people to visit the link on your bio (a button to either will pop up on the post once you promote it), and then choose how much you want to spend for how much days, and your post will show up to people who are likely to follow you.

I promoted two posts, each for five days summing up for roughly $10USD, and the results were:

• 10000 views on each posts
• 190 more likes for one post
• 50 more likes on the other
• 20 or so new IG followers (from 73 to 93)
• 75 visitors to my blog where I post the links for the chapters (which 23 people actually clicked on later).

I'd say it works, but would have worked better for my comic if I had used the tapas or webtoon link.
Also, I don't know if it helped the hashtags I used for those posts.

r/OriginalCharacter for drawings of my OC such as character sheets or them cosplaying as godzilla and kong.
r/webcomics and r/webtoons for anything related to the comic

And it doesn't hurt to post other stuff that could hook people to your social media.
I used the r/Inktober when I used my characters for Inktober 2020, and the r/Fanart for well... fanart of mine, unrelated to my OC's or comic.

Whatever r/ you find, just make sure to follow the rules and don't spam your stuff.

Honestly, drawing art about it. It's hard to get people engaged with my work when I talk about it, but if I drop an art then they're like Excusey? What is this? What is this mysterious child you've drawn?

Twitter has been the most supportive and lucrative avenue for me to promote. Really, the best part of it is that it helps me make genuine connections with other webcomic artists who in turn become my biggest cheerleaders (and vice versa!)

I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, but talking with people has given me, daresay, friends, who I look forward to reading and having them read mine.

I do also love a good dumb forum thread where your characters have to answer. Lots of laugh, and lots of enjoyment out of those.

Hmm, I think the best way to promote is engaging with other creators. XD Sharing your comic on social media like Twitter or Instagram also helps.

My audience just found my comic on the fresh/canvas section in webtoons. In other art/social media sites, like Deviantart, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, etc, my stuff only gets one digit like/views (usually 1 or 2 per post), so, it feel pointless or irrelevant to promote there.

I mostly promote here, and I like those threads that require some sort of a creative input like, one i posted in just now was like "post the most adorable character in your comic(s)". I do appreciate a good old link drop too, but I think the more creative threads are fun.

I also post in the "Updated your comic?" thread whenever I remember it.

Oh I also posted a link to my comic in the reddit of the game it's based off of.

Idk if it counts, but I also link it to people if the conversation allows it (aka someone lets me infodump about that game and my favorite characters, and then Bestia's Wrath becomes relevant and I mention it)

That's kind of all the promoting I do, I think.
