What's your favorite and least favorite part about making your comic/novel?

I want to know what others' thoughts are about this to see if I'm alone on this or not

I've made both, but I'll talk about the comic part, as that's the one I'm currently working on.

I think my favorite part about making my comic is also the same as my favorite part of making a novel, and that's creating a story and sharing it. I've always loved the idea of creating new characters, forming a story around them, visually representing said story via comic (or novel, and sharing it with other people. As a creator, that's my main drive for making what I make and I love doing it.

BUT I think my least favorite part about making a comic is how long it takes, the frustration of not being able to draw that one thing just right and spending too much time on it, and figuring out how to frame the scenes. I've gotten better since I started, so I can't complain too much about that, but I just wish I could go faster without sacrificing the quality. And transferring ideas to visuals can be a struggle sometimes. (Also hands.... those darned hands!)

But anyway, what are your faves and least faves about making your stuff?

For me creating a novel (or in this case a fanfic) is breathing life into the characters and bringing the reader on an adventure they won't easily forget. It's also to stringing together into a series (the book I've up now will be a duology). Teach the reader new things they will subtly implement in their own lives. And how happy it makes me be able to give joy to others, create an escape as I had years ago reading the Taynikma series.

My least favorite part is adding descriptions, I usually write in third person limited and it can be a hassle to make it interesting for the reader without boring them. Everything else I enjoy doing. I'm not that picky when it comes to my own writing.

I write novels. I never really thought about a favorite part but there's so much about creating stories and storytelling that I enjoy. I like creating characters, the world, creating story arcs seeing the characters evolve through their characters arcs. Seeing how things that I planned out come about in a way that is different than I expect.

My least favorite part is problem when I feel my writing is lackluster which makes it hard to write sometimes. Then there's when I release my work and it doesn't get traction or and then if it gets a little than it isn't what I expected. Sometimes that compounds me feeling bad about my writing and makes it harder to continue. I want to write as a career, but even if I never succeed I will continue writing. I do want to succeed though.

Yeah, it can be a bit discouraging to not get the traction you expected, but you just gotta keep doing what you're doing! You'll become a much better writer than you were and eventually you'll get a following who will enjoy your work.

I've been writing for a while and I know I've improved. And I am still improving. Although I still haven't quite figured out the best way to promote my work. But I am sure that's a struggle a lot of us face. I do understand that patience is part of it. Especially since my work hasn't quite hit a week yet.

Best way to promote I think is to share it in the forums or on any social media sites you use. Just have to be persistent with it. But some of it does come down to patience and waiting for people to find your stuff

I've post a few links on the forums but I also don't want to continue bombard people. As for social media, I've never been great with promoting through it thanks to my limited reach.

One of my favorites is also designing characters and thinking of their personalities.

The least favorite thing I like about making comics is the frustration I get from drawing things that I don'r draw often or what I haven't practiced enough on. Basically like you said @Kajaysee.

It certainly is, however, extremely difficult to perfection. Oh, that reminds me of a friend I used to have, she would create backstories and designs to her drawings, she lacked however, the ability to string together a story as I did.

Forming an overall story can be difficult as I learned with my first attempt at it. I think it just takes time to get to know your own characters and the world they live in before making a complex story. And even then it can take a lot of time to refine it into something even better than it was

Good things about friends, we help each other where we are disadvantaged. Balance each other out!

I never encountered that issue, for me it has been natural since I was young (I used to create stories with my little sister when we were kids). What I've learned, though, is improving my grammar (not a native English speaker) and improve the plot structure of my stories. I've also planned to rewrite some of my works before moving them over to Tapas.

Followed by "oh no, I uploaded the page and forgot to add the sound effects. Oh no, time to add them as as quickly as possibly. Shit-shit-shit I hope no body notices, fk fkf kfkfkfkfkkfkfk. Ok, ok.. done. Only 2 views. I think I'm safe" Only to wake up the next morning to have the page only have comments of various readers pointing out a spelling mistake in panel 2.

I always notice my minor errors after I upload, so I try to hurry and fix them

For my current one, my favorite is drawing my characters because I love their designs and coloring the whole thing. My least favorite part is the drawing of certain poses that I either made up or just can't get right now matter how many times I look at the reverences

I make comics and for me it's the line art and coloring I enjoy most but storyboards are the bane of my existence.

My favorite part of making a webcomic gotta be putting my stories and characters out there for people to see. I also like linearts.

My least favorite part is lettering. I just find everything about placing speechbubbles and text boring, but it's necessary unless you're making a silent comic. xD

Favourite part: not having ideas echoing in my head when I'm trying to sleep anymore, and being able to share my characters.
Least favorite: I have to find ways to connect scene A to scene B and so on...
