What's you're favorite anime series and why?

Gurren Lagann takes my cake. I saw it during a time when my spirits were low, and it was exactly what I needed to pull me out of my funk.

Any time anyone asks for an anime, I immediately tell them Gurren Lagann.
It's over-the-top ridiculous, but that's the point.
Its heartfelt messages hit me right in the soft spots. It's contributed to my writing inspiration.

So I had a less than traditional childhood and didn’t watch anime but my husband convinced me to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender a couple months ago and I freaking loved it I felt like the characters were all so relatable - both good and bad - and I think it has affected my writing to a certain extent

Doraemon, KochiKame, Time Bokan, SDF Macross, Nintama Rantaro, Virtua Fighter, Digimon Adventure.
Why? it's just anime series I watched when I was a little kid but I can still enjoy it after I grew up.

My all time favorite is Hetalia.
I was going through a lot of problems as a little 12 year old and that show helped me a lot. It was like a comfort (Still is). It was nice to come home from school and be cheered up by it. : )

The show did inspire some of my comic's characters, but that's about it.

I watch it at least once a year. I absoutely adore everything about it. The story's a slowburn horror story. The characters are amazing. The animation, though weird, works so well for what they were going for. Also the morality point of the whole show and book are amazing.

When I wrote horror I was quite inspired by it!

One Punch Man, Dragon Ball (any version), Naruto, and Death Note. Those are all my favorites for right now.

Sailor Moon!

It came during a time where there was not a lot of strong female heroes on tv. I liked the fact that I could easily see myself in a few characters. At the time, it was really different from anything else I was watching and I fell in love it instantly. I also played a huge part in my development as an artists and writer. It's also funny and I love the story.
Sailor Moon Super S is my least favourite season, but for the rest, I wouldn't be able to pick a favourite. Which is the only series I can honestly say that.

I really don't watch anime as much as I used to, but it's got to be Violet Evergarden.

Fuck, that series is amazing. Nearly made me bawl like a little bitch the entire series (my tear ducts and my willpower are strong so I actually didn't, but damn, Violet Evergarden was the closest to ever eliciting such a reaction from me). Episode 10 was heavy man

Also I watched that anime after school up, two to three episodes each day, until I got to the finale, so imagine my absolute exhaustion coupled with the intense emotions in the anime kinda contributed to the tearin up a bit, haha. Wish I could erase my memory so I could rewatch Violet Evergarden from start to finish again.

Seriously I recommend everyone watch it - completely blind. Especially if you're a writer, it's a good example of how to make your audience care about your characters.

And if you're wondering - I haven't gotten down to watching the movie yet, but I'm planning to.

Let’s see, sailor moon for nostalgia reasons- but for animes I love enough to recommend to people...

I like fate Zero is really good (sorry everyone who likes bladeworks zero is just superior for me)

Ghost hunt is actually really good - love the ghost stories and how the character interactions go.

Outlaw star was my cowboy bebop which might have been why I could never get into cowboy bebop

Yu yu Hakasho is good (At least for the first season I only rewatch that one since I always loose the plot after that )

And obv OPM is like everyone’s fav cause it’s so good but that’s not a suprise

Mine are Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and Bungo Stray Dogs. I adore the plot and characters of both and have to rewatch at least once a years. It was a combo of watching these one after the other that helped me come up with my current wip, a 1950s crime fantasy
