When did you guys realized that your novel/comic was actually gonna hit big

Hello guys Agnivrat here. I am not a veteran author. I just started writing and have written about 25 chapters and 11 of them already aired. I was curious about something. This question is for all the creators who already made a solid footing here or those who are still building there foundation- What was the turning point for you or your novel/comic. Was it a plot you've written, an achievement you made(getting a ton of subs, like or higher rank in your genre.) or the interaction with your readers.
Tell me exactly that point when you thought- Oh my work is actually gonna hit big now.
For me, I've not reached that point yet but maybe I'm close as well- After just 6 days of airing my novel-Child of prophecy, reached 4th rank in action fantasy genre and 17th rank overall in community. I don't know if this is normal here on tapas since I'm still new to this platform but the day when my novel get first rank in the action fantasy genre that, I think, will be the turning point for me and my novel.
I'm curious about yours as well. Tell me your story. I'm always open to read interesting stories.

Well... Never really thought any of my comics will "hit big" I just did them. Once upon a time, it was yahoo geocities with under 5 people reading them.

I don't know about being a big hit, but I see an idea as being good if I can do two things with it;

1- I can picture a beginning and an ending, and write the middle.

2- I actually like what I am writing. If I don't love it, how can I expect my readers to?

probably when I started getting comments from people saying the story made them cry/made them emotional and stuff

I don’t think that I’ve hit it big yet and quite frankly I don’t think I ever will. Right now I’m just focusing on completing book 1 and slowly growing my audience. Can I hit it big well yeah, anyone can with hard work ,dedication and luck.

My manga is for a hobby to learn how to do manga comics and have fun telling my story. So its a work in progress as I study that style.
I have gotten comments on how my colouring methods pull people in for mood and environment settings. A few people can't get enough of my main OCs love interest. Find him attractive.
My latest page release, got one saying they loved how its improved alot through the years and find it so 'impressive."
So for me as long the readers like it. I'm happy with were it is right now.
If I ever found a way to get funds (im disabled with no income) Id hire someone to redraw it all at the skill and style I want to reach eventually.

I wouldn´t recommend thinking about your creations in that way.
Make them a big hit for you. If someone else loves it then that´s a good side effect

This isn’t Tapas specific and I don’t know what you mean in terms of “big hit” but there were definitely multiple points where I realized my work was going to be well received and earn me an income.

I focus mostly on social media so its really all just looking at numbers. I remember the first post I made of a comic page that got around 1000 likes and I knew if I could do it better I could reach more people. So with almost every new project (not ALL of them— some were massive failures) the numbers would go up more and more exponentially faster than they did before because every new project was an improvement on the last.

Another big tip off for me was when people started commenting not as if they were trying to directly communicate with ME but more just trying to communicate with the rest of the audience. So where I used to get comments saying things like “You’re doing great! Good improvement!” I started getting comments more like “[enter random person’s username tagged] this is so us” or just people starting conversations amongst themselves in my comments.

I haven’t hit big yet, but there’s been lots of little victories. Hitting big to me would be being invited as a guest to a convention to sign my books. But that’s just me.

Well, frankly, I love working on my story, even though I have lost my passion for drawing. I really expect my story to be a huge success, even though I published it in the wrong way on the site. However, I will not give up. I hope that the rest of the creators will continue their work and amaze the world.

Truth be told if I were to succeed it would be if I get fan art. Like ever. Like if folks gave me fan art willingly then I would think I would have succeeded somewhat.

What would you define as hitting it big?

I'm doing far better than I expected, but I'm not even close to what I'd call the big leagues - Litterbox comics, Unfamiliar, and so forth.

I might not be in the Major Leagues or even the Minor Leagues, but I'm doing alright in my local club! I'm occasionally top of my genre in community comics, anyway.

My first inkling of success came a year ago, after I was over 50 pages in, when I had a comic page reach the front page of Reddit unexpectedly. I haven't repeated that event yet, but on average my comic has performed about twice as well as my expectations.

I think having realistic, low, expectations is a big help to keeping your story going. Choose stories that are similar to yours in age, reach, and genre to compare your progress with. That helped me early on.
