When Should Christmas Decorations Go Up

Well in my family we start decorating early November to middle November depends how much effort we are doing.

I think that roughly 1 month before a big (or important to you) holiday is always a "safe bet". So a beginning of December for Christmas or New Year's.
I think it's nice being in the holiday mood for some time if you enjoy it, but the beginning of November feels too early, like it barely starts snowing in most of my pretty damn snowy country in November and being in winter mood with no winter just seems somewhat strange.

December. Putting them up in November is just weird, it's not even Advent yet, never mind Christmas!

Also I don't get this trend of putting decorations up in like November, but then taking them down on boxing day. Christmas is twelve days, people! It's from December 25th to January 6th. That's why the song is "the twelve days of Christmas". We're meant to get twelve days off work, but corporate capitalist rubbish has pushed the "Christmas shopping" part to start as early as November, while sweeping the "holiday where you hang out with friends and family and rest" part under the rug and encouraging people to take their decorations down and go back to work before it's even new year's, because I guess they like the part where people buy things, but hate the part where people get time off work...

I put my decos up in mid-late December, then I take them down on Twelfth Night (Jan 6th) (Also my favourite Shakespeare Play).

And for decorations I say shortly before first advent.
We hat boxes over boxes of wood and wax decorations that we'd flood the house with and the smell was just all christmas.

Then we'd sit on the couch in the evening, only candles lighting the room, eating cockies and listen to a christmas story on record.

Sound's like I was born in 1900 but no, I'm not even a true nineties kid.

Omg, the same thing happened to me I went to a store on Halloween, and most of the store has Christmas decorations.

I used to work at this one place that would play kid friendly Christmas music (thankfully no Christmas Shoes). There were two songs that pissed me the most off.

"I Like A Sleigh Ride", simply for being way too repetitive and annoying

"Momma Wouldn't Lie to Me", a song sung by an adult man about being gaslighted by his mother about Santa.

Week before Christmas for us. Loses its appeal if its up for over a month.
If we're speaking of jobs. My first full timebjob was working in a card shop and would be stock taking Christmas cards in March. That was fun. Not.

I am Dutch so Christmas decorations go up after December 6th! Then Sinterklaas has left the country!

I can say, must be dependent on culture. You'd see Christmas decor up on houses by late September to early October in our country. People start looking forward to Christmas as soon as the Ber months start there's even memes for it. By August 31, you see memes of a singer famous for Christmas songs.

Definitly right after halloween. i love the christmas season. the holiday itself is meh but the pure joy i get each christmas season is unmatched by any other holiday. once i no longer went trick or treating, i stopped caring about halloween, never stopped loving the winter season.

like i dont mind Christmas but ive been around so many folks who are obsessed with the holiday that nowadays im just so very meh towards it

This...the commercialism just has me dreading it. Also the people(mostly at my job) who are assholes most of the year and then want to wish me a "Merry Christmas"(those same motherfuckers get all bent when you just say "Happy Holidays" because they are supposed to be religious- where was that "religious goodwill" the rest of the year when you were showing your whole ass?); retail uses the holiday to push more crap consumerism...it's like it all feels fake af at times- but I try to get in the spirit.

I love putting up the tree(I get an artificial tree so that I can use it again the next year and not contribute to the relentless harvesting of real trees), but I hate taking it down...

decorations still being up in January doesn't bug me but February is the post Christmas limit

This as well. I kind of do get a little weirded if decorations/trees are still up by late January.

I guess at one time in my life I used to love the Christmas season, but now it just feels...rushed.

Though I will never get tired of "O Tannenbaum" by the Vince Girardi Trio(from A Charlie Brown Christmas album- I LOVE jazz)
