That's right =) And it has happened more than once when I was watching new wpisodes of my favorite series and suddenly some weird pairing was canon and I was sitting there like: Y U DO DIS?! XDD

So... yeah, I guess we all have our preferences =) Happens even when I read comics of my friends, that I start to ship characters which would never be caught with each other dead XD;

Some of my characters... well, I clearly can't picture them in any sort of ship XD; So... receiving even NSFW rated artwork sometimes is a bit weird.

Do you mean non-humanoid character or some of humanoids, too?

Oh, there are some far more deadly pairings in the Disney fandom - I was surprised to see how many people ship Esmeralda and Judge Frollo from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" =)

Never had it happened but I want it, I live off stuff like that. I want some insane ridiculous pairing. It would be beautiful. I would hang it on a wall. Bonus points if its with shrek.

I'd actually support the hell out of it (as long as it's not incest/paedophilia/abusive as some already mentioned) as I myself am sad that I can only put like 10% of my own ships into canon. I think the only thing I'd ask of people is to be respectful to gender identities and sexual orientations when it comes to explicitly canon trans or gay/lesbian characters. But since most characters are very free for interpretation and/or fall onto the bi/pan spectrum canonically, I'd say go wild!
Definitely would be curious what kind of crack ships people came up with and not gonna lie, I'd read the filthiest crack smut fic because seriously, someone loves my characters enough to open up a word document, that's such an amazing thought and an Accomplishment for me.
(I know that my Trusted Person already ships some characters but they also kinda get teased in the canon anyway.)

I'm quite fine with it! Even I like non-canonical ships in the stuff I consume too.

The most interesting story I have is that I was once commissioned to draw my own characters from my BL series in a heterosexual sex scene. I gladly complied since the female rival character is actually my favourite character.

None of my fans drew any ship art yet but I'd be REALLY excited if they did! Even if its not canon it would make me happy they're reading and actually thinking about my characters.
