When writing a novel on tapas does it have to be more than twenty thousand words?

There's no requirement!

I've heard people with a big following recommending chapter length of around a thousand words (shorter than some other platforms), but for novel length... it can be as short or long as you like!

Nah. Unless you are planning to go premium (which is no longer available for novels any way). There's no minmum required novel length.

Episodes are reccommed to be short and bite sized anyways. 20k words is honestly a good novella lengh which some creatores i know succeeded with.

There is no true requirement for word length on tapas. 20k is a good novella length and just go for it. Don't limit yourself to just 20k words (under or over). Go with the flow until you've decided you're done.

There’s no limit. You could write a single chapter of 500 words and call that a full story if you can mage to tell one in that space lol. I’m at 22K words on my sci-fi novella, which I’m close to wrapping up, so it’ll probably end at around 30K or so. My fantasy Novel however, I really want to see if I can reach at least 60K words, although I read somewhere the minimum for fantasy should be 80K, but you gotta start somewhere lol

Only the chapters have character limit. Like everyone else said, the length of the full story can be however long you want it to. So far, I have 160K, and Tapas hasn't told me to stop yet.

Tapas seems to call everything that isn't a "comic" a novel though most of us have the idea that novels are, like, hundreds of pages long like the Charles Dickens things they made us read in school. But I have a "novel" here that is one page.
