i like sci-fi just as much as fantasy but yes
it seems like fantasy has surpassed sci-fi i guess
comic trends change, but i also wish for more sci-fi
though there's still plenty of sci-fi novels worth a try
:alien:

This isn't the case! Sci-fi is definitely an underrepresented genre here on Tapas, and over on Webtoon, but... we're here. My comic is a sci-fi/fantasy, and there are a number of other active creators on these forums with sci-fi comics.

I'd recommend jumping into the Tapas and Webtoon discord servers, and seeking out other sci-fi creators that way. We're not as rare as you think.

I like Sci-Fi, but LOVE them especially from an alien's perspective. Also recently a fan of 'All Tomorrows' and really like the fandom. Would love to see someone make their own spinoff comics around the story! :yum:

I've recently been trying to get into more Sci-Fi (lately I've watched Firefly and am currently watching Farscape and one of my favorite webcomics, Denma, actually is Sci-Fi) so I should look into some of the selections here a bit more though.

And my comic has some sci-fi elements but it leans more into the fantasy side I'll admit. So probably not what you're looking for :sweat_02:

Sci-fi creators and fans do exists, even here at Tapas! Science fiction may not be at the height of its popularity at the moment but that doesn't mean it's not there, you may just have to dig a little deeper.

I think at the moment there's definitely a fantasy boom happening and that is reflected in comics as well. D&D is more popular than ever and so are roleplay-podcasts, so it makes sense for the fantasy genre to be growing in comics as well.

I believe part of the problems with sci-fi is that in popular media hard sci-fi seems to be the trend at the moment and that could be pushing people away from the genre. Hard sci-fi requires a lot of research which is what people may think all sci-fi needs but that's not true for things like sci-fi adventures or space operas. Recent popular sci-fi like Interstellar, The Martian and Gravity have all been more about realism and not really exploring the imaginitive side of sci-fi, so perhaps people don't see the full potential of the genre.

Though, I have a hunch that the fantasy genre is maybe starting to slow down and maybe it could be science fiction's turn to shine. Perhaps the new Dune movie could start a new trend, who knows.

Hi, if you're looking for a sci-fi novel, feel free to check out mine. It's a sci-fi/cyberpunk detective story:

Hello, I create sci-fi comics myself, I'm a big fan of them and creating new races and cultures or planets gives me incredible joy. It's worse with spaceships but it's not a tragedy xD
When I think "aliens" I don't think about Marvel comics at all. I think of Mass Effect or Star Trek.
On tapas I have two of my sci fi series, one completed and one waiting to be resurrected. And I'm also in the process of creating a short sci fi series (only 8 chapters).
I myself find very few people drawing aliens as main characters, mostly background or side people. So I'm trying to create them as main characters myself. Here I'll leave links to old comics and completed ones, and a screenshot for a new comic.
I sincerely hope that more scifi comics will appear. I will also leave some recommended works by me.

This one is finished

This one I will redraw:

This one is my current work and its fantasy:

This is what I'm working at now:

I recomend those:

Sci fi is awesome XD I don't have any sci fi things of my own but it's cool to see others' stuff

I've always been a fan of classic sci-fi, myself (The Day the Earth Stood Still, Forbidden Planet, Star Trek, Star Wars, Andromeda, Firefly and such). I'm also a fan of newspaper comics, so I blended the two together in my comic Ralf the Destroyer.

Ralf is the "Charlie Brown" of alien invaders. He was hired by the TransGalactic Council to destroy the Earth. What they didn't know was that he's actually just a really nice guy and kind of a procrastinator.

The story starts out slow as you learn about Ralf... but once on Earth, things tumble out of control pretty quickly.

Thanks for taking time to read this!

I've noticed that there's a lot of Romance and Fantasy stories on Tapas, but Sci-Fi is alive (and well?) on this here platform. I should know since I write science fiction myself.

I've written two stories for a series that's currently on indefinite hiatus, and I'm going to release a novel sometime around the beginning of next year.

If you don't mind some horror mixed in, here are my two stories so far if you are interested:

Hello dear folks! I want to start by saying I'm very happy about founding this topic and reading other sci-fi creators, I agree about your all opinions.

I came to Tapas and published a sci-fi comic, not more than a month ago, and it was incredible the shock I got when I didn't receive any interest in the sci-fi genre. Then I swam deep into Tapas and found artistic gems and not only sci-fi but also fantasy and other genres, and I was surprised they also had little interest in the low number of subscribers, likes, and comments I'm talking about professional quality print comics, and this led me to notice a pattern here in Tapas. There is a tendency to choose comics that perhaps have a more basic style almost made with Paint, and these have thousands of subscribers and people who support them (I do not seek to offend I just speak from the care of art techniques) While the comics that have very thorough work, and quality in composition, character design, world, color, human figure, perspective, etc. do not have an equivalent interest. I can't understand why it happens. But I understand many artists studies and work day after day to perfect their technique and want to give us quality work either in art style or story, and they are not being supported, and I mean all genres, not just sci-fi. I didn't mean to offend anyone if anyone is offended. I intend to say that I always put quality art, technique, and story first before following an artist or comic. The quality of the image is important, talking about comics because they speak to us with pictures in sequences that must be perfectly chained to communicate the idea, Will Eisner's "Comics and sequential art" and the content of these pictures must be clear and convincing. So I think that sci-fi is not in its best moment here in Tapas and the niche platforms of reading comics but out of it, they are a phenomenon because the boom! in digital platforms, and not to mention all the work done by Marvel and DC in all these years, so I think it's a matter of trends. Before long this will change, and romance and fantasy will come down from the podium, and it will be another genre's turn. Trends are what they are, just trends. Horror and supernatural are raising their heads little by little, just look at "Dr. Brain" from the Tapas platform now in live-action series on Apple TV, and there is also "Hell" from the Webtoon platform now on Netflix.

Lupita - A sci-fi dystopian, steampunk, futuristic comic.

I'm here because I needed a platform with a reader UI incorporated since I don't need a personal site yet.

Tapas has the lowest views and interactions of all platforms including Instagram.

In would say part of it is my fault since I haven't had time to update the cover page to something more Tapasy.

All my views here come from other places, very rarely from the tapas og reader base.

Won't advertise. Click my face for a series link.

i know i like some good scifi heck my comic series is scifi ,with some fantasy and action mixed in ,I think scifi gets over shadowed by other genres at times

I suppose techniccly the end strip of my comic is Sci-Fi, as the main character was created in a lab, but, within the strip itself there aren't any real sci-fi elements. I have, however, considered an origin spin-off comic though... Hm? Maybe the next strip could include some sci-fi? I'll have to think about that.

I'm a fan of sci fi, and I already follow some series here on Tapas.

And yesterday I finished and published the first page of my own comic \o/ This is a space opera about elves and DNA research.

I enjoy scifi, my main comic is a fancomic of Jack Kirby's New Gods and my other story is a Star Wars fanfic.

I love sci-fi and also have a sci-fi story

Spaceships are the best, lol
