They can rearrange the app's frontpage all they want, but until people can plunk a few keywords into a search box and have it spit out some relevant content (preferably that can be sorted), they're missing out on a larger user base. Or at least let us sort the results we get now, by update or popularity or whether the hit is from the title or the tags.

how about pushing the comics of the little guys, the ones who dont have hundreds of fans. the upcoming artists who need to feel that they are doing something worth carrying on.

If we are talking about the app, it would be ideal to upload content directly for creators, however, that's a long milestone for all comic apps in general Though, this makes me wonder if Tapas own a ko-fi or any donating platform to help improve these functions once they reach a milestone. Or it already exists but no longer active?

Honestly, I feel like it needs a way to tell you whether something's a novel or a comic when you use the search function. On top of that, I feel like it needs massive overhaul in the categorizing genres. It's so limited here compared to Webtoons, which even then, there's not that much more of a variety over there. The ability to tag a comic or novel with multiple genres is important, too.

Currently you can only choose between Action, BL, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Gaming, Horror, Mystery, Romance, Sci-fi, and Slice of Life. This barely covers anything considering the variety of subgenres there are. I'd personally add 18+/ Mature, Adventure, Animals, Crime, Detective, GL, Harem, Historical, Josei, LGBT+, Mecha, Military, Music, Novella, One-shot, Poetry, Post-Apocalytic, Psychological, School, Seinen, Sports, Shounen, Shoujo, Superhero, Supernatural, Thriller, and Zombie. But uhhh, that's just me.

Lastly, just a simple function to add images to a novel.. that Firefox method is asinine, like they allow images, but so long as you use a different browser and don't use Ctrl + V to do it.

They wouldn't need that many categories to show up on the front page. It would make more sense to have a working tagging system that can be searched for. So you could go into the Horror genre and then do a search for #psychological or #ghosts limited to the creator's tags. And maybe eventually be able to search multiple tags like "show me everything that is #ghosts and also #complete and #18+."

I need a way to communicate with all my readers outside posting a comic update, like the creator wall can feel very useless when only website users (less than half your readers) see your messages.

Nah, when you go to the Comics or Novels tab on the browser site, there's that drop-down menu that says All Genres. Put 'em all there. Similarly, on the app, there's the explore section which features all the genres that Tapas lets the creators tag, right? Again, put 'em there. I realize that I'm making it sound like that's easy, my bad lol but yeah, having a drop-down based on the genre popularity or alphabetical order would be nicer if there was such a variety.

Clicking on a genre and then looking for the subgenre would be neat, but I'm sure there's instances where a work can (for example) be attached to ghosts and not necessarily horror. I know you don't mean it to be like you can only search specific tags in a genre, but yeah, I dunno, it seems like it's more work than necessary to find something. But like you said, a working tagging system would definitely be great though, same with searching up multiple tags at once to find a specific type of comic or novel. I can agree with you there, for sure!

I personally wouldnt mind an "are you still reading" feature, for those comics that i dont read anymore due to no updates that i forget i even subbed to.

Yeah a working search would be real nice. Every time I've tried to use it I just end up with pages and pages of dead comics that uploaded once 3 years ago so I've just given up on it. Most of the new comics I find now are through forum posts.

More genres would definitely be nice. Or sub-genres. Or just working tags. Something combining them? Big genre categories like Romance Action Sci-f Fantasy ect but also optional subgenres so readers could get a better idea at a glance what's in there. Like a way to go "it's primarily Romance, but there's action and supernatural" vs "it's an Action story, with supernatural elements and some romance" but as genres/subcategories. Like tags but more standardized, I guess. It would definitely make finding what you want quickly easier.

I think that's too many even as drop downs, and it doesn't necessarily account for series that belong in multiple sub categories. Tags that are searchable would solve a lot more problems. Then you could apply multiple and the search query pulls up relevant results, allowing for very specific tags that staff wouldn't have to specify as a genre.

Like, I can tag my work "samurai" which isn't going to turn up enough results to justify it being a subgenre, but people should be able to search samurai without turning up people's unrelated user names.

Yea kinda makes me sad. But it can’t be helped when they’ve gotten big now. (I used to see a lot of creators in the forums that have also left.)

This absence in real communication (to me) kinda feels like Tapas may be another MangaMagazine/InkBlazers in a few years (first webcomic site I knew now defunct)
