Where else do you post your novels?

That said, where else do you guys post your novels and how does the experience compare to tapas? Which outlet do you get more views, subscribers, or general interaction? Any other tips in general are welcome

My novel is on both Tapas and Wattpad.
Wattpad has more views than tapas for mine, BUT I had to put in a lot of promotion for that. For tapas I just uploaded and was more relaxed.
That being said, I like tapas more as a platform and I like the community more here

I understand there was a security issue with wattpad? Has it recovered from that? I do like the active forums here, though I definitely have some more lurking to do.

Comparing the two, I update the story on my website more often and leave more author comments. I can also make better use of formatting because the entire site is coded by me. IMO It's a little more engaging; it's how the story was originally meant to be read.

But on Tapas I can do more in the way of advertising and promotion, and send people who are already on Tapas directly to my story. Plus readers can subscribe and be automatically updated, which isn't possible on the website unless you use RSS.

In terms of engagement though, I'm not sure which one does better? I feel like it might still be too early to tell.

I've tried Wattpad, Booksie, Inkitt, Royal Road, and now Tapas. The general consensus is that unless you write a certain genre that is extremely popular like romance, fantasy, or any of their subgenres, progress for your novel will be extremely slow or seemingly nonexistent. I will say that of the places I've tried, Booksie, Tapas, and Royal Road would be the ones I recommend. I've had over 500 reads on Booksie but only a handful of fans (their version of subs) and only one follower on Royal Road despite having nearly 100 reads there. On Tapas I gained 48 subs in the first month, but progress has definitely slowed over the past two weeks, which might be because of back to school stuff going on. Promotion is very important, as is interaction on the forums. Read for reads go a long way in getting your work exposure, as well as reviews. It's also good to check out other people's works and engage in the community by commenting on things you like (it helps get your name out there). Setting up a consistent update schedule also helps here.

I've tried Wattpad(some of my stories are still on there), Inkitt(deleted my account after a few hours checking out the site) and Tapas(which I currently use). I've found Tapas to be much more easy in terms of gaining reads and subs. And the community is wonderful.

I also publish on Wattpad but I'm thinking of only publishing on Tapas in the future. Wattpad's visibility and interaction levels are at rock bottom and ready to dig. My most successful original novel has something over 4,700 reads and 337 votes on Wattpad at the time of writing this post; on Tapas it's at almost 80,000 views and nearly 10k likes (I don't know how that happened either). Both published simultaneously with the same amount of promotion. The difference is that Wattpad relies exclusively on the algorithm, which leads to a very winner-takes-it-all system, while Tapas actually supports creators and helps them gain more traction when they see a work has potential. Leastways that's my experience.

(Also, it's just nicer to navigate because you actually get original stories when you click a tag. On Wattpad, you have to wade through boy band fanfiction hogging the top 50 ranks before you actually find anything that couldn't, well, also be on AO3. Oh well.)

I'm on both Tapas and Wattpad. I've been on Wattpad for several years so my fan base over there is vastly superior to over here. All sites are going to have their pros and cons depending on your needs. I loved Wattpad for a long time and was very happy there. It's only been in the past year that I soured for various reasons and started looking for a new home for my books if/when I resume writing. I'm still very much in the feeling out stages for Tapas and probably will be there for a while until I sort some things out with myself and what I need/want these days.

I post mainly on here, but I also do it on Wattpad occasionally and started posting on Royal Road and Scribble Hub. I've been thinking about posting on Moonquil as well as I look for other sites to explore for posting.

I've just come over here from Fictionpress where I was getting about 100 views a year on my prologue... Very bad site for readers as well because there's no tagging and you only really see things that have been freshly updated. Not a lot of users at this point either... Wish I had found Tapas earlier, because it's a far better site overall. And there was a weird culture on Fictionpress where comments were expected to be long and have serious reactions and critique? I feel it held back communication because everything had to be Serious and Professional. 1/10 would not recommend, especially in 2020.

Hey, I used to have a FictionPress account too! I pull out an old version of my story a long time ago and I think I closed up my account. I left that site a long time ago and I'm surprised it's still active since I haven't been on that site for too long.

Now there's a name I hadn't heard in a while. I started on FP too. I can't remember what my read count was at the time, but I apparently did well enough to be plagiarized LOL Back then it was as easy as cut and paste to steal a book so someone took one of my books and the 2 shorts that would be the basis of the sequels and posted it to Wattpad. That's actually how I first joined Wattpad because I liked how promptly they removed the stolen content (once I stopped playing nice with the author. I gave them a chance to remove it on their own and they just tried to hide it from me)

I remember I tried going back to there a few years ago but realized just how awful their uploading function was. Both Tapas and Wattpad as so much easier to upload chapters to.
