Instagram > Twitter = Tapas > Webtoons = Facebook > Twitch
Instagram has my largest following by a significant (for me) amount, it has ~60 more than the next bracket. at 160-ish. I have ~100 on Twitter & Tapas, ~65 on Webtoons and Facebook, & ~50 on Twitch
I'm not super active on social media so it's hard for me to grow on those platforms. I feel like Instagram's focus on photo content is what has allowed me to do the best there though, vs. Twitter which I use too infrequently to stand out much and Facebook which is mostly a hub for IRL people I know to keep in touch with my work.
I'm hoping with my upcoming comic that I'm able to grow my audience on webtoon more (as my previous comic was a page-format fantasy comic with so-so art, so I understand why it didn't do too well there) but at the same time it outperformed my expectations on Tapas.
Twitch is my newest venture, I've been live streaming there for ~6 months now. Audience growth there is haaaaard for artists, since "Art" is just 1 big category filled with every type of art from comics to illustrations to body painting to emotes xD There's a search function but I believe the average viewer just scrolls the list to find people to watch, and it's sorted by default high-to-low viewers so as a newer streamer you'll often be like 50 rows down lol... But it's a lot of fun and I've networked to find some other artists that I really like, so we support each other and have been growing slowly but surely I'm hoping to try and direct some of my readers from both Tapas and Webtoons over to this platform (and discord) to interact more outside of just the comic comment sections when my new series launches. Fingers crossed!
