In no particular order, here we go:

Mike Mignola (Hellboy, BPRD, Lobster Johnson, etc.), Linda Medley (Castle Waiting), Evan Dahm (Rice Boy, Order of Tales, Vattu), Nicholas Kole (The Dawngate Chronicles-webcomic), Murata Yusuke (Eyeshield 21), Samura Hiroaki (Blade of the Immortal), Inoue Takehiko (Vagabond), Aki Irie (Ran to Haiiro no Sekai), Peter Bergting (Domovoi, The Portent, currently on Mignola's Baltimore), Eichiiro Oda (One Piece) and Enrique Fernandez (L'isle sans sourire, Aurore, Brigada).

My favourites cast a pretty wide net in terms of style. For example, I love Mignola for his stripped down, simple style with heavy, blocky shadows and excellent composition (expecially when it comes to cover illustrations) - but I like Aki Irie and Murata Yusuke for their super-detailed, super-expressive style. Inoue Takehiko is a master of the black and white - while Enrique Fernandez is brilliant at coloured work.

as for manga I lean towards the horror genre; junji ito, kazuo umezu, and another artist who is probably too nsfw to name here (because gore lol) -- but i also liked some of nakamura asumiko's short stories, especially I Am A Piano.

Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes is a classic. I also enjoyed Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse, and the Umbrella Academy, but other than that I don't read much comics outside of the internet.

This is more general sequential art than actual comics, but i find Renee French's stuff like H Day and The Ticking to be quite inspiring.

Oh my favorite comicbook artist is Becky Cloonan, Siya Oum, Stjepan Sejic and more.
My favorite comic is Courtney Crumrin by Ted Naifeh, ms Marvel 2014, Chrono Crusade, Sky Doll, Tsubasa Chronicle and more.
I've starting to read "the wicked + the divine", which I adore to pieces right now. It's really good.

I love the end of Chrno Crusade. I was beautiful and almost made me cry.

I like Kaoru Mori's Bride Stories, it's beautifu. And it's also about a culture I never really checked, so I'm quite happy to know more about it ; it's interesting. Another one that come to my mind is Florent Maudoux, the author of Freaks' Squeele. It's a very nice french comic.

That and "Brodys Ghost" by Mark Crilley, that's a good series too

Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist, Gin no Saji). Her style is very unique. It seems simple, but it isn't, if you look closer.

I tend to read long volumes of a series by fewer mangaka. Thus some include: Tohru Fujisawa, Naoki Urasawa, and Motoro Mase. I prefer serious manga, over light and comedic.

I love horror Manga. Junji Ito is my favorite Mangaka of all time. Kazuo Umezu's Drifting Classroom is Brilliant. I am also familiar with some of Nakamura Asumiko's work which is also has a great dark style.

Usamaru Furuya is a great manga artist definitely not for the faint of heart though. Palepoli and Short Cuts are mind blowing. Nishioka Kyoudai has a very distinct and interesting art style (Again probably not for everyone as it can get out there). I also admire the styles of Kusumoto Maki, Kaori Yuki and Kazuya Minekura.

Other than those listed, one of my current favorites is Ishida Sui, the mangaka of Tokyo Ghoul, especially because it's their first manga! (other than a joke doujinshi) The story in TG is more in depth than it seems and has a lot hidden in there.
